First Spot Hogg – $ well spent #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve been into archery now for about 13 months. I’m on my third bow and my 6th sight (first 5 were in the $ 75-$ 150 range). The Spot Hogg Grinder 5-Pin Micro is by far the biggest component upgrade I’ve made. I was hesitant on spending $ 240 on a new sight, but after reading all of the positive reviews and learning that SH offers a lifetime warranty I went ahead and bit the bullet. This thing is bright, HEAVY DUTY AF, and good looking. I also find the MRT has helping with my accuracy. I was lining my peep up with the bottom and right side of my sight housing which made for a pretty accurate shot, but being able to see that bright yellow ring in multiple sizes helps with consistent alignment.

Anyone else share a similar experience? Holding off on making a pricy upgrade and then wishing you’d done it from the get go?

This Spot Hogg sight and my Carter release are the two things I wish I had pulled the trigger on from the start.

Deer found feasting on human remains

By Margi Murphy, The Sun May 9, 2017 | 11:01am | Updated

Forensic scientists have caught a deer munching on human remains for the first time ever.

The animal was snapped gnawing on bones by a motion-sensitive camera set up by researchers in Texas.

Footage captured the deer nibbling at rotting corpses inside a 26-acre “body farm” – a section of woodland designed to allow researchers to watch cadavers decompose and discover which animals they attract.

Raccoons, turkeys, foxes and vultures are typically seen feasting on the bodies.

But this is the first time a white-tailed deer – widely believed to be a herbivore – has been captured munching on human remains.

The corpse had been outside for 182 days.

Experts from the Forensic Anthropology Research Facility at Texas State University watched as the animal held “the bone in its mouth like a cigar” on two occasions in January 2015.

A paper recently published in the Journal of Forensic Scientists, claimed this was the “first known photographic evidence of deer gnawing human remains.”

It added the deer was likely chewing on the bones because it was deficient in minerals and that they had no evidence it had eaten any flesh.

It’s thought deer probably chomp on animal bones during winter to “obtain minerals absent in their diet” like calcium, sodium and phosphorous.

What do deer eat?

Deer are herbivores and typically eat plants, fruits, acorns, and nuts.

They switch to grass and evergreen plants in Autumn, when food is scarce.

When things get desperate in winter, they munch on fallen leaves, twigs, bushes and other woody plants.

They have been reported to gnaw on animal bones but this is believed to be when they are deficient in certain nutrients.

compounds for young archers (9 yr) that are adjustable well into an older age

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

My boys are interested in archery. They will soon be 9 and 12 years old. They’ve shot traditional bows before. I’ll like to purchase a type of compound bows that they could use for a longer time, while they are growing up. Something with a wide range of draw length and weight. I’d prefer that these are real compound bows as much as possible, not toys – in other words, something that a small-ish or average adult could adjust to fit their size and strength, and shoot without hesitation. But I’d like also to keep the price relatively low.

So far I’ve identified 3 bows that more or less fit this description: Bear Apprentice, Diamond Infinite Edge, Mission Craze.

Any other suggestions?

I ordered my first bow today from 3 rivers. The Samick Sage 35# kit. I’m getting a few extras with it. Arrows, quiver, tab, armguard, etc. But I did order a Fast flight Flemish string, some silencers, and a bear hair shelf. I’m looking forward to getting it in. I’ll be able to stand up soon, so it’d be nice to have something to do.
