first time tuning

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Having some issues tuning my Spyder. Specs are as follows: Spyder 34, 31" draw length, 70 lbs, Ripcord, arrows are Carbon Express Maxima 350s w/ 100 grain tips.

Attempting to paper tune and realized I’m getting vane contact with the ripcord. I put lipstick on the vanes and it shows its making contact with the outside of the inside fork of the rest. When rest is down it lays flat on the shelf. When I’m at full draw the rest starts to go down the first 2 to 3 inches of letting down (which seems correct to me). I tried to move my nocking point up but this didn’t help. I know I need to fix the clearance issue before doing any tuning. I just don’t know where to start to fix the issue.

Thanks

First time paper tuner

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys. I have never paper tuned my bows. I have always had a reputable shop set them up so I have always started with a quick tune, followed by broadhead tune and it has always worked out well.

This time around I bought a new Apache Micro rest and had it installed by a guy who claimed he was a bowtech. When I got it home I noticed the launcher cord was served into the downward cable too high, almost at the X where the cables meet up. The rest was also not timed, it was raising upon drawing the bow back right away. I squared these issues away and went out to shoot today.

I was able to finally get to where I was dead on at 20 yards, and about 1 inch high at 30 and 40 yards when shooting at a 3 inch circle. Being tired I quit and came home.

My nock point seemed higher than I normally see it, I would say the bottom of my Gold Tips were crossing the middle of the berger hole. Def slightly nock high. So I built a paper tuner out of a box and 8X10 sheets of paper. After shooting I realized I had a slightly low/left tear. Per the chat that meant I needed to raise my nock point so I lowered the apache one tic mark. That got me to these shots in the pic.

You guys think I should continue to lower or be happy with these? Where else would you go with it? Back out to the yard to quick tune and then broadhead tune again? I think my vanes might also be hitting the arrow holder that he put on the shelf. THe D-Loop might be too low as I would think the launcher should be level with the shelf when in the down position. Uggg.

Shooting PSE Stinger 3G (IBO 314), Gold tip XT Hunter (8.2gr) cut to 27 inches. Draw Length = 27 inches at 64lbs pull.

set-in time?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

are there any tricks in the whole string making process to reduce or nearly eliminate the "shoot-in" time on bowstrings. I pre-stretch them at about 350# for anywhere from 6-12hrs depending on what time of day I am making them, but they still want to take about 20 shots or so to finally setlle in before I can tie off the peep and everything

any tips or techniques to get rid of this or reduce the amount of "shoot in" time reguired?

thanks

I was trying out my new, heavier limbs at the time, hence the unsteadiness.

1st time food plot advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

After having access to a suburbian business complex that holds a good amount of deer in the area. I got permission and decided it was time to give these deer something else besides hitting the flower beds at night and having no other need to be on the Business complex. The small plating area is on a overgrown path that that is used by the deer at morning and night but always seems to be hit or miss how often they use it. It’s part of a patch of thick stuff that is a few 100 yards long and about a 100yrds wide. My side of the patch has small lots on either side of the complex that I have gotten pics on my cam all times of the day during the Rut and been lucky enough to take 2 Small Bucks on the property. I haven’t gotten pics of the BIG Racks that I have seen boardering the complex. The food source is very poor except for flower beds near the buildings and the nicely landscaped blacktop walking paths around a lake on the property.

I have looked at the Sweetspot stuff and so far looks like the most promising. I also just seen a ad for the Roll out food plot. I have to do everything by hand. I removed a good amount of weeds and growth. Just have to hit it with some weed killer next. ANY advice will be helpful.

Thanks,
Rich

.this Buck was from last season.
