Thinking of going with a thumb release? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Started bow hunting when I was 14 now I’m 56 and in my groups just are not as tight as I want them to be. Want to try a different release. What is a good quality thumb release for hunting whitetails?

Vertix owner – thinking a light practice bow – non-“flagship” #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

The Vertix is a bit heavy for my old butt, do pull more and more, more practice etc in order – set light at 60# switchweight (45#??? – need a scale!).

Want to support the pro shop, Believe the extra pennies are worth spending to have a pro work on the "Ferrari" and I want them to pay their rent so I show up tomorrow and they’re still there with the talent.

Thinking I don’t need flagship again, to many great bows today, even if a year or two old (not another Vertix, Ultra QAD, HHA 5119, mathews quiver, some other goodies – have not gone "overboard" – I think – all very nice).

"Know your bow and personal limitations and practice" seems to be key for success.

Leaning away for "try them all", at mid-range, just get a proven, well made, top seller of all time (not just flagship 2019 or 2018 at $ 1750+ – not that I *think* I have any buyers remorse, the bow is , well slick as greased lighting).

Barking up wrong tree?

Suggestions are great, what’s a proven, great customer support and above average "never seen that before tech support" type answers from the mfg.

Throw me a bone or two, give me some things to think about. Diamond sb-1 has been on the radar – I dunno, light usage in the mfg forums on Diamond.

I shoot 20 and 40 yds in the backyard, in the shade.

Maybe do nothing and just use what I have <shrug>.

TIA ALL!!!

Got to Thinking #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

With some many threads on safety lately I got to thinking about how cool the Wingman is and wondering if there could be a less expensive and simple way to accomplish something similar. My brother is an avid climber so I spoke with him. He suggested I look at belay devices. I did some digging and it looks to me like we can use a piece of static line and a delay device like an 8 or something similar. The static line is looped around the tree and then through the belay device. The rest of the line can be coiled in a bag so we can pull it out and lower ourselves down if needed. I use a rock climbing harness so this makes complete sense to me.

Any thoughts.

Thinking about a Sitka Shacket #archery

So I was wondering on people that had this and how you wore them. Sitka says you can wear it under a larger jacket for colder times. How is the fit? I know they are great products but just wanted some thoughts. Thank you for anything.

Thinking about trading my Carbon Element?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I been shooting a 30 in DL CE since 2012, I recently bought the Chill X and now realize that the string angle on the CE is way to steep for me. I’ve been struggling with consistency with the Element but not the Chill X. I think its because I cant seem to get comfortable with my anchor point which I contribute to the string angle. So with all that being said I am going to sell my LH CE and buying a CS34. I would love to hear your thoughts as I am trying to take my shooting to another level.

BTW- I will put the bow in the classifieds but if someone is interested PM me.

Thinking of mounting my Galaxy 4 on my bow

I was wondering if any body can give me some hints on brands of mounts or if I should just stick with my Roscoby?

Thinking I might try a longbow?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Short recurve guy here, I mean 52-54" short! Always never been interested in longbows but see the newer heavy reflex/deflex designs are making for a sweet little longbow. Very interested in Big Jim’s Thunderchild and the Shrew. Big Jim’s are only about 6 months out where the Shrews are over a year but they pop up here FS now and again. Any feedback on these bows? I will be using for hunting mainly in trees.

Thanks!

Thinking of getting aSamick Sage (first recurve bow)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I’m thinking of getting my first recurve bow, and I was looking at the Samick Sage, since it’s affordable and has good reviews. But I have no experience with recurve bows. I do have some experience with archery, but I’ve only ever used Compound bows (I have a 70# compound bow right now but all full draw it’s only like 14#). But for some reason I’ve always wanted a recurve, (I guess I like the idea of traditional archery). But I have a few questions before deciding what I want to do.

1: What poundage should I get? I was thinking of getting a 45# bow.

2. What draw length should I get? My compound bow is set at 28" draw. Should my Recurve be longer, shorter, or the same?

3. What length should the bow be? I’m 5’11 and the Samick Sage is like 5’2, so I don’t know if I will have a problem with it or not. But I have no experience with recurve bows so it might be the right size.

4. Can I shoot split finger with the Samick Sage? Or is it designed for 3 under?

5. Is the Samick Sage even a good recurve bow? Or should I get something else?

6. If the Samick Sage is a good bow, should I get different strings? If so what ones?

7. And finally. Would it just be better to build my own bow (buy the limbs, string, and riser separately and then put it together myself) vs just buying a recurve bow that already comes with everything.

That’s about it. I hope you guys are able to answer my questions.
