Let me tell you about my new bow!!!! #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve owned quite a few bows over the years…. I’ve had Mathews (1), PSE (4), Hoyt (1), Elite (2), New Breed (1) and now Athens…. I’ve never in my life been a "fanboy" but, now I’m not so sure….

I’ve always been a little concerned about buying DL specific bows as damn near every bow I’ve ever had, was always "off" from just a little to 5/8".

I took a "chance" on a Ridge 32 from the classifieds here and this thing is absolutely amazing!!! The problem is, it’s too fast for ASA and I’d hate to muck with it to slow it down. So…

I ordered another Athens. I figured I’d shoot it for ASA/Speed limit tourneys for the rest of 2020 and then I’d turn it down for indoor spots.

I ordered a "Tapped Out" Ascent from Titanium Archery Products. (Sam is a great guy to deal with!!!!) I picked it up yesterday and had a bunch of other stuff to do before Softball practice…. I got home from SB late because we had a coaches meeting and figured "I’ll just have to tinker with the new bow tomorrow."

I tossed and turned for 2 hours and never even came close to sleeping and finally my wife rolls over and says "go play with that damn bow so I can go to sleep…." I went down in the basement and started putting things together…. a little before midnight, I finally got it to the point where I was ready to send the first arrow down range. I figured I’d shoot it through paper to gauge how much tinkering I’d need to do today….

My first shot was a bareshaft and got a perfect bullet hole…. so I shot a fletched shaft with the same results. I still have a lot of work to do… but, if this is an indication of things to come, I’m gonna be putting up some good numbers with this bow too!!!!

How old do you think he is and about what he scores? Trying to compare guesses. He’s got four on one side and five on the other, and yes not the best pics I know.

I can tell I’m putting torque on my bow but can’t seem to fix it?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

When I draw my bow back I can tell I am torquing the bow. I just can’t seem to find a grip that works. It kicks which I shoot and I can see my bow is facing to the right and my arrow to the left. I can’t seem to fix that issue no matter what I do. pictures wont upload but I’ll try to post some pics soon. Thanks for any suggestions.

CARBON ONE FRANKEN-ARROWS.. TELL ME WHAT CARBON ONE WORKED FOR YOU! I NEED ATs HELP!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Franken-arrows you ask? Weak arrows, cut short to stiffen… now have 120 grain points in them to weaken… FML.
I have seen so much support for the newbies out there… I’d figure I’d ask you guys, before I go buy some new arrows.

Where to start…My setup
My setup is a RH Sky Conquest 24" riser. My limbs are 35# LONG RCX-100s for a total length of 69".
Limbs are WOUND IN a couple of turns and I’m holding 38# on the fingers at full draw.
My draw length is 27.25" at anchor to the plunger.
My Beiter plunger is pretty medium if not a little mushy.
Brace height is just short of 9".

The current arrows are:
810 Carbon Ones
They are 27.75" cut from their raw length of 29.125"
They have 100 grain ACE points. (They used to have 120 grains, but I changed them out when I was testing…keep reading below)
Total arrow length is just short of 29"

HERE IS THE ISSUE: When I shoot at 30 meters with a stiff plunger to test the spine with 3 Fletched vs 3 Bare Shafts, I’m getting decent groups with both fletched and BS… they are measuring 22" apart on average (Bare Shafts are left of the fletched)

HERE IS WHAT I WANT: I want to shoot FITA distances with an arrow that has 100 grain point, measuring about 29-30 inches for a weight between 36# to #40.

WHAT SPINE DO YOU THINK I SHOULD USE?
WHAT IS WORKING FOR YOU AROUND #38 WITH A SIMILAR DRAW LENGTH…. H E L P ! ! !

THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST – DAVID

Tell me about Bob Lee bows

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

After cracking my Razorback and figuring out my Grizzly stacks and pinches like crazy I have a better idea of what I want.

I am wondering about Bob Lee bows now that I have a good idea that shooting a recurve is twice the fun of a compound. Are they as good as they claim themselves to be? Anybody have one and what do you like or dislike about them. I’m not seeing many for sale used so they must be pretty nice.

My AMO draw is almost 32" once I found my preferred anchor. I didn’t mind shooting at 62" bow, some pinch but not too bad. I think a 64" would be a good balance for hunting maneuverability and comfortable shooting or would you recommend going to the P3 riser and going 66" or 68"? I hunt from the ground most of the time and not in a blind so a longer bow isn’t that big of a deal. I stand about 6’4" but have only have a 34" inseam so my top half is a lot bigger than my bottom half if that makes any difference.

Can anyone tell me…

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

… if Samick Sage, Journey, and/or Polaris all share similar width limbs, and similar mounting-hole patterns?

I’m contemplating a Frankenbow project… :mg:

Sage limbs fit my old Indian riser as-is, but I’d like to take advantage of the longer (as I understand them to be) Journey limbs if possible.
