First Spot Hogg – $ well spent #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve been into archery now for about 13 months. I’m on my third bow and my 6th sight (first 5 were in the $ 75-$ 150 range). The Spot Hogg Grinder 5-Pin Micro is by far the biggest component upgrade I’ve made. I was hesitant on spending $ 240 on a new sight, but after reading all of the positive reviews and learning that SH offers a lifetime warranty I went ahead and bit the bullet. This thing is bright, HEAVY DUTY AF, and good looking. I also find the MRT has helping with my accuracy. I was lining my peep up with the bottom and right side of my sight housing which made for a pretty accurate shot, but being able to see that bright yellow ring in multiple sizes helps with consistent alignment.

Anyone else share a similar experience? Holding off on making a pricy upgrade and then wishing you’d done it from the get go?

This Spot Hogg sight and my Carter release are the two things I wish I had pulled the trigger on from the start.

I just spent the last 2 days @ G5 Prime Bows Summit & & 3D!

G5 Prime had me out to their Summit and 3D! I’m a Hoyt guy, but in preparation for the "class" and shoot I picked up a Prime Rival a few weeks ago. This event was at the Snowbird Ski Resort! Beautiful place! It’s late and the extreme 3D destroyed me!!!
I’ll update this later with more details later, but I wanted to say that the "Summit" was well done and very interesting!
The next morning at 7:30, we all met at the tram to the top of the mountain (11,000 el.). Just before boarding the tram, they announced who would be in what groups. I was shocked when it was announced that I would be in the group with Dave Cousins! He couldn’t have been nice, more encouraging or more helpful.
I made my day!!!

How I spent my Labor Day

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Soooo… with deer season just around the corner here in Illinois I took the liberty to work on my treestands on Labor Day.

My wife was planning to replace our Christmas tree this year, so I decided to recycle the old Christmas tree for additional good use in covering up my ladderstands. Note these are all full size BigGame 18ft ladder stands with large platforms and seats. They went from sticking out like sore thumbs to almost disappearing, and the great thing about the christmas tree branches (which i zip tied to the stand) is that they are wire and can be bent to any shape you need for more or less cover.

This is the last thing the deer will see 🙂

So just in keeping with the Traditional theme of this forum… I then proceeded to take my new longbow to my club’s range and shot straight off the ground, in the stand, various angles. I worked on shooting instintive, gap-stinctive and pure gapping with the new bow. I did some bare shafting and was very close with my initial setup but was a bit weak which i fixed by lowering my BH.

I was having so much fun I shot until I was stuggling to hold anchor and decided to take one last 40 yard shot (my point on range) I managed to hold my anchor solid and cleanly released the string, the arrow left my bow like a dart and arched its way to the middle of the bulleye… I looked up and the sun was setting, I thanked God for such a beautiful day and headed home!
