Fletching glue? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Ok, I know this gets beat to death on here but here goes. What fletching glue do you use? I hear a lot of people use the Gorilla super glue? I’m fletching Blazer vanes to carbon shafts.

I’m also wondering if anyone has tried the Gorilla glue with the brush applicator?

I used Loc-tite gel on my first dozen arrows, works really good, but it’s really expensive compared to the Gorilla.

Thanks in advance for your replies, Robinhedd

I see alot of people asking about fletching and adhesion problems. hear is a formula that has served me will for over 30 years.

1. Prep your shaft with denatured alcohol use a clean white lint free cloth after you clean it do not touch the fletching area

2. Use emery paper like sandpaper but does not leave behind grit to lightly scuff the base of your vanes or feathers

3. Use clear PVC pipe cleaner found at any hardware store (except ACE) they only sell the purple stuff for do it yourselfers note do not use purple it will not come off. Use a q-tip to wipe the base of your vane while it is in the clamp. I use a new q-tip on each arrow

4. Apply vanes using any good adhesive fletch tite instant, bright site any good archery adhesive will work fine, while the vane is still in the jig against the shaft use a clean q tip that is dry and run it down each side of the vane this will remove the nasty looking excess. I use a new q tip on each vane. repeat process for remaining vanes on the arrow.

5. Do not allow the pvc cleaner to get on your wraps or nocks it will disolve them that is why you use denatured on the shaft

6. you now will tear the fletching off the base before it comes off the shaft the pvc cleaner etches the base of the vane and you will never have another problem with fletchings.

7. Any questions please feel free to ask

Hope this helps some of you it will definately build you strong great looking arrows

So I wanna refletch my arrows. I’m really picky haha. I have gold tip hunter xts so I am def putting two blazer kiwi color on and I can’t figure out what to put for the last one.

I am sure most people don’t care about colors but I do.

2 kiwi green and a pink? Easy to see in woods

2 kiwi green and yellow?

2 kiwi green and blue??

Anyone have any pics to help?

I get bullet holes shooting bare shafts through paper at 15′ but there is typically a less than perfect bullet hole when shooting a fletched arrow through paper. The blade on the rest is a standard .010 which I have ground down at the tip to reduce potential contact issues but when spraying foot powder on the fletching there are always lines from the tip of the rest which can vary somewhat, depending upon nock orientation. I have tried various nock orientations but contact always occurs. Should I try a .008 blade?

The top fletching was shot through paper, accounting for the missing powder on the perimeter of the fletching while the second picture was shot straight into the target, sans paper. Comparing the two it can be seen the interference is not consistent but the nocks may be oriented slightly different from each other.

I appreciate any help you can lend.

Phil

Anybody have any recommendations on specific vanes? Generally for hunting and 3D. Do you guys see accuracy improvements with some over others or is it really just trial and error until you find whats best with your setup? any features that are quieter/better performance? what are some pros and cons of certain ones?
