Using climbing harness as tree saddle #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Has anyone tried this?

I’m thinking of setting it up with a small platform for my feet to ease potential numbness.

How does it compare to a real arborist saddle or specialty hunting saddle?

Climbing Harness Features for Hunting #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m strongly considering moving to a climbing style harness and get rid of my full body harness. I really dislike the tether tied to the back of my neck. Since the harness is basically for life preservation should I fall (which hopefully will never happen), what are the minimal features that you would recommend? Are padded waist belt and leg straps necessary? Are the gear/tool loops useful for anything? What brands tend to be of higher quality and do any of these brands produce a "minimal" type of climbing harness that would work well for tree stand hunting (climber stand)?

Planning to head to REI this weekend to see that they carry.

Found these climbing steps on Craig’s list. He gave 10 of them to me for free. I vaguely remember these steps back in the day but don’t remember the company. Brand new, used once. Anyone know who made these?

Squeaky Climbing Sticks…HELP! #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

My climbing sticks are squeaking when I climb up or down. It seems to be the metal up against the bark of the tree.

Anyone have a cure?

Thanks.

Hello all first I want to say that I am new to this site so this topic might have already been covered but i havent found it. I have been bowhunting since i was 12, I am 21 now, but normally use stick ladders to climb a tree. This season I will be using a millennium m100u to hunt public land in Missouri and want to use climbing sticks. My question is whats the best brand, how many sticks to get, how far apart do i space the sticks, and any other tips or DO NOTS to do while using the sticks. Thanks in advance, PS if anybody has tips for public land Missouri hunting that would be appreciated but not the main topic of this post.

Rock climbing harness put to the test, not on purpose #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I switched to a rock climbing harness this year from a hss harness. I like the rock harness much better. I’ve read where some guys don’t approve but I am a believer now. So I hunted Saturday morning in one of those darn red oaks that are hard as a rock. I always hunt from my old man climber and until that day had never had a problem. The morning hunt was great saw a nice 8pt that got hung up too far for a shot. Planned on switching spots for the afternoon but found the river had flooded my choice so back to the red oak I had hunted that morning. Running late I was ascending the tree quicker than I usually do. I was attached to my lifeline by prusik to the vario speed harness. Got about fifteen feet up and next thing I know the bottom platform falls right out from under me. 2.5 foot drop and I’m hanging on side the tree. The fall was not uncomfortable in the least, scary yes but not painful at all. I recovered the platform and back up the tree to make the hunt. Lesson learned, take your time going up the tree and always tie in while climbing and descending
