Arrow data for Short Draw Archers #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am currently shooting:
65#, 25.5 in draw VXR 28 with a 325 grain arrow. X impacts, foc 13. 289 FPS

I have shot 2 deer with it and recovered both. One was a pass through, the other stuck in the back shoulder. I have been debating increases my arrow weight.

I put the attached chart together with 16 arrow set ups I was considering. I thought posting it on here might save some others some time. It shows weights, fps, momentum, kinetic energy, price, etc.

I decided to go with the BE deep impacts That will bring my arrow weight to 412. 12.6 FOC. Should be about 268 FPS.

My goal was to stay above 260 fps, be over 375 grain, and have a decent but not crazy FOC all with my short draw length.

Let me know your thoughts on the new set up. Hope someone finds the chart helpful or interesting.

Does archers advantage tell you what to dial to for sub 20 yards shots such as 41 yards for a 15 yard shot?

Hi AT folks. I had downloaded the Archers Advantage program a while back and it’s giving me issues. I want to update it but the www.archersadvantage.com website seems to be offline? Anyone able to access it? I’m not talking about Archers Advantage Online site. I’m talking about the one where you download from.

Christmas advice for some new archers #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi everybody,

I have a family of five and am getting some beginner bows for everybody for Christmas. I need advice primarily on arrows, and also on any other thing I should be looking out for to start. I have measured the arm span of each family member under a pretense to get the approximate draw length for everybody via the armspan/2.5 method. I understand you will need a lot more information than I have at this time to really help us fine tune, but for now I just want to get a ballpark so we can shoot on Christmas and then begin a more rigorous fine-tuning process from that point. I have chosen beginner bows (Snake Recurve) and am trying to go to the fairly low suggested draw weights which I see in some places online for beginners so we can all start out working on technique and not be "overbowed" while doing it.

Here are the particulars:

Child 1 – turns 7 next month. Estimated draw length is 19.1". Receiving a 48" Snake recurve (15#).

Child 2 – 9 – Estimated draw length is 22.7". Receiving a 60" Snake recurve (18#).

Child 2 – turns 12 in two months. Estimated draw length is 23.3". Receiving a 60" Snake recurve (18#)

Adult woman – Estimated draw length 26.7". Receiving a 60" Snake recurve (#22)

Adult man – Estimated draw length 29.8. Receiving a 60" Snake recurve (#26).

My main question is what arrows I should order? I understand I should get fletched and not vaned arrows to shoot with this bow. Beyond that I don’t know much except that the low draw weights on the bows may make arrow selection a bit challenging, particularly for me (adult male), who has an estimated draw around 30". I know it is not possible to be perfect with such limited information, but if I can get some decent arrows in the right ballpark to have fun with on Christmas day then I can fine tune from there.

Also, if there is anything else I should know or should consider doing or getting I would be appreciative of any advice.

Thank you very much for your help.

Archer’s Advantage Software: Bugged? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I just started tinkering with Archer’s Advantage. While trying to set up arrow configuration, I can’t seem to properly enter information under "Fletch Details." Since the vanes I’m using aren’t listed, I’m supposed to choose "Generic" then "Plastic". OK, good so far. But then "Fletch Size" is stuck at 0 and the only things left I can input are "Number of Fletch" and "Fletch Length." But no matter what I enter as length, the "Weight per Fletch," which I assume is the critical piece of information the program needs and uses to make its calculations in Shaft Selector, sticks at some random number that is usually nowhere near the weight of the actual fletching I’m using. As a result, when I click back to Shaft Selector, the results are different every time. On top of that, closing and restarting the program causes it to choose some random preset fletching combination (instead of saving the "Generic – Plastic" choice). Presently I’m resigned to choosing a preset that is as close as possible in grain weight to my fletchings, but it seems to be a clumsy workaround.

I’m wondering if anyone else using this program is having a similar issue, or am I missing something? I’ve tried reaching out to Perry by email but no response so far.

Archers advantage accuracy? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m putting together a new setup, went to several charts online, including Easton and Black Eagle to find an optimum arrow spine for my rig, then went to the AA site, they couldn’t more different, now I’m just getting more confused:

Here is my rig, CD34 and or an E35 – 57lbs, 28.75" shaft and a 29" draw and 116 grain point weight.
Easton recommends a 400 spine as does Black Eagle but I’m using a 340 Axis 5mm and a Black Eagle Rampage 350, according to AA the 400 spines are too weak and the 340/350 spines are marginally too weak, AA recommends a 300 spine for both. Why such a wide discrepancy?

I have been shooting the 340 and 350 shafts and I’m not very consistent even at 20 yards – I should be stacking arrows at that distance – didn’t want to believe it was the arrows but now I’m not too sure? Any thoughts?

Why do i need a nock point with a whisker biscuit if there is archers paradox? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So like, the biscuit encapsulates and essentially guides the arrow the whole time, unlike other rests which essentially point it in the right direction.

So what do I need a nock point if using a whisker biscuit? Shouldn’t putting it ‘near enough’, or as close as possible by eye on the string be good enough? There is a paradox anyway.

A little high or a little low is not gonna throw things way off like with something like a weather rest, eg angle of flight once the rest is cleared. But even with a rest like that, how is near enough not good enough when you factor archers paradox?
