Let me tell you about my new bow!!!! #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve owned quite a few bows over the years…. I’ve had Mathews (1), PSE (4), Hoyt (1), Elite (2), New Breed (1) and now Athens…. I’ve never in my life been a "fanboy" but, now I’m not so sure….

I’ve always been a little concerned about buying DL specific bows as damn near every bow I’ve ever had, was always "off" from just a little to 5/8".

I took a "chance" on a Ridge 32 from the classifieds here and this thing is absolutely amazing!!! The problem is, it’s too fast for ASA and I’d hate to muck with it to slow it down. So…

I ordered another Athens. I figured I’d shoot it for ASA/Speed limit tourneys for the rest of 2020 and then I’d turn it down for indoor spots.

I ordered a "Tapped Out" Ascent from Titanium Archery Products. (Sam is a great guy to deal with!!!!) I picked it up yesterday and had a bunch of other stuff to do before Softball practice…. I got home from SB late because we had a coaches meeting and figured "I’ll just have to tinker with the new bow tomorrow."

I tossed and turned for 2 hours and never even came close to sleeping and finally my wife rolls over and says "go play with that damn bow so I can go to sleep…." I went down in the basement and started putting things together…. a little before midnight, I finally got it to the point where I was ready to send the first arrow down range. I figured I’d shoot it through paper to gauge how much tinkering I’d need to do today….

My first shot was a bareshaft and got a perfect bullet hole…. so I shot a fletched shaft with the same results. I still have a lot of work to do… but, if this is an indication of things to come, I’m gonna be putting up some good numbers with this bow too!!!!

Talk to me about E Bikes for hunting #archery

I know there are a bunch on the market and I’m sure they are all good bikes but anyone have real world experience with e bikes for hunting? I’ve read a bunch of online magazine reviews but would Ike feedback from you all. What are some things to consider other than motor size? (I’m leaning towards 750) I will be using it to check trail cams, getting to stands etc. probably no more than a mile or two one way in. I’d like a durable one that can withstand rain, mud, dirt, travel through cut corn field, small streams, etc. like to stay in the $ 3000 max range. Thanks for any input!

Question about RC harnesess #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I use a Metolius SafeTech harness (as with most RC harnesses)…I love it except for one thing, the leg loops and waist belt are secured via feeding the straps through buckles. This can be a bit of a pain when switching from warm weather to cold weather camo a lot and having to shorten and lengthen the straps. I have a hard time getting the straps to stay in place so that the length is the way I want it…especially if I am trying to shorten it. The one thing I like about regular tree stand harnesses is they have I guess you’d call quick release buckles.

Is it possible to safely change the straps over to quick release buckles? Anyone ever done this?

Anyone know if I were to soak some arrows in acetone for a few minutes to help get the old wraps off of them if it could weaken the shaft any? Could be wrong, but I believe carbon shaft have some sort of epoxy in them.

Grade 3 AC Separation – question about draw weight when recovering #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I had a grade 3 AC separation a couple years ago, and I’ve dropped my draw weight to 50#. We just wrapped up league shooting tonight, but after an hour my shoulder is wasted. Sometimes it’s difficult to raise my arm after league, so I’m considering getting a 40-50# bow and dropping the weight to 45# or so. The problem is, I’m not sure if I want to drop under a 50-60# bow in case I’m able to recover some more strength. In in my mid 50’s, so that may be a pipe dream.

Has anyone out there had this injury, and if so, after shooting consistently, did your strength come back? Shooting my bow is probably one of the best things in my life, but a new setup is a significant investment.

Thanks
