Shelf Wear/Friction

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I’ve been shooting off the shelf with my new bow for a couple of months bow.

Recently, I have noticed a burning hair smell when I loose an arrow, and my shelf material is worn away where the bottom hen feather makes contact with it. In fact I can see the bottom hen feather edges are more worn than the other feathers.

The arrows seem to fly OK, so perhaps this is normal with off the shelf archery?

For info, I shoot split on my Hoyt GM2, with 4inch shield cut feathers. Nocking point probably 1/4 inch above perpendicular. Might be different now as I’ve added some extra twists on the string to increase brace height.

I tried cock-feather-in, not sure if this is any better. With this, I can see feather contact on the outer edge of the shelf material (the black smudge in the photo below)

Any ideas?
