Wrist slings

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So it’s been a while since I’ve been really active here on AT. Anyways, I just got a new Mathews Halon 5 and am needing to get a wrist sling on it that matched the string color and all. I knew there used to be a few people on here that used to braid them up for sale but have since forgotten who they were or if they still do. Just looking to see who’s out there that still makes them. Thanks for any help!!

Going from wrist strap trigger type release, to thumb release and back.

Does anyone here use both types of release with their bow, and if so, what adjustments did you make.

I use a Cobra Pro Caliper for hunting, but would like to use a Truball Absolute for 3D and target practice. However, it results in a lowr anchor point and i feel like I will need to raise the peep slightly and adjust the sights accordingly. Is that common?

Outdoor Life: for Hunting bow, no wrist sling or stabilizer -what do you think?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

In an article in the new Outdoor Life it describes how to pare down a bow’s accessories to the absolute bare necessities for hunting. They say get rid of a wrist sling because it’s for a better grip and don’t use a stabilizer. I’m pretty sure they are talking about stand hunters who normally don’t shoot past 30 yards. I’m sure a plains hunter who may take shots out to 70 yards or more may definitely want a long stabilizer.

Since I added a Bowstix Bipod to my bow (which I love), I have not put my 8" PSE stabilizer back on. The bow is just as accurate without it. The only reason I had the stabilizer, which was just really a dampener at that length, was to keep my wrist sling on.

I thought a wrist sling was so you didn’t drop your bow, not for a better grip. So which is correct, or is it for both those reasons?

What do you think about this article?

New recurve, string destroying my wrist

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

AS my name indicates..

Ive shot compounds since my early teens, but recently I decided I wanted to play with a stick, I felt like I was missing something by not trying traditional.

I picked up a #50 Samick Sage which from what I have read is an excellent starter bow.

My problem is, every single shot the string pops my wrist right at the joint.. and I don’t mean it taps it or it makes contact it WACKS THE HELL OUT OF IT.

Even with a glove and a protector over that after about a dozen shots develop a nice red whelp. I cannot shoot the bow more than a few times before the pain makes me put it down. Ironically I shoot quite well.

I cannot find a flaw with my form, there is no (reasonable) way I can alter my grip so as to not make contact.. Its not like its contacting up on my forearm where in elbow positioning could be the issue.. its right up by my hand..

Is it possible the string is actually too long?

I made my own bow wrist sling. Made it out of 550 paracord and some scrap leather a got from a friend. It was fall come and neon orange camo and I think it ended up sweet looking. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375382223.892281.jpg
