What state would you want to own hunting property in? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys so been saving up to buy a little working ranch to live on to move out of California home of the s*%t bird liberals. I have decided on moving to Wyoming or Idaho or Midwest, eastern or southern state that has good whitetail populations and has a long season. Also I want to live in a state that I can get tags over the counter if I am a resident. I want to plant food plots. And I also want to run a trap line as a hobby. What state would you want to own a ranch on and why. Anything helps, thanks

If you were a deer…..what would you score? #archery

Just for fun…… what would you score? P&Y? B&C? I think I’d just barely hit P&Y (Even though I’m from IA). I’m slightly taller than average (6’1"), weigh 190ish, so-so genetics, and 45 years old. Definately a little past my prime and starting to go down hill. Other parts of me aren’t anything to write home about either.

I was going to do a "score this" thread but currently in witness protection so can’t. What would you score?

When I asked this seller to double-check their price for an error, their reply stated that they used the Carbon Tech website as a "starting Point" to come up with their price ($ 799.99) for 7 (SEVEN) used CT Cheetah 525 arrows! What am I missing??

Which Bow Would You Buy? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m looking to upgrade my brother’s hunting bow this Christmas. I’m looking in the $ 300-$ 450 range for a ready to shoot, used setup. The bow that comes to mind immediately is a Switchback XT, but they tend to sell on the upper end of that range. What are some other bows that I should consider? I realize that the possibilities are really endless, but I’d like to get a bow in the same class as the Switchback XT if possible. Thanks!

How Would You Hunt?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Well, I was lucky enough to have been given permission to hunt a very large group of properties (over 800+ acres) right before bow season starts this coming Monday. With a limited amount of other hunters allowed on the property, I’m thrilled to have been given the oppurtunity to say the least. Being last minute, I have done ZERO scouting and besides topo and aerial maps, know nothing about the land. What I know is that it’s made up mostly woods with multiple creeks winding through and some swamp land. No fields/Ag land.

So, can anyone give me advice or their opinion on how I should go about hunting land I have’nt had the oppurtunity to scout? Has anyone gone in "blind" and had any success? I know there is no golden ticket to this, but would like to see if anyone has any advice I can take into consideration. Thanks & God Bless.

Would someone run some OT2 numbers for me. Please

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I just picked up a Bowtech Invasion wondering if 400 spine arrows will work out of it.

Bowtech Invasion shooting 60lb. 28" draw
Arrows are 27 3/4 nock throat to end 100g tips

I am thinking the 400’s are going to be a little weak. Might need an excuse to get new arrows

Thanks

How would you hunt this thick wooded mountainous property?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

A family member recently bought this house on a piece of land a little less than 200 acres in upstate New York and gave me permission to hunt it.

The lack of obvious hunting spots based off the topos is giving me a bit of trouble trying to figure out how I should hunt it.

The entire property is pretty thick hard woods, mix of pines, oaks, etc…The bottom edge of the property borders a road and reservoir. The roads that are on the map in the middle of the property are not there in real life.. must be some sort of map error. The left half of the property is a pretty steep mountain face- not too steep to walk, but a pretty serious incline. There are about 4 or 5 well cleared but unused logging trails that run across flat ridges that are parallel to the main road-these logging trails are spaced pretty evenly from bottom to top. To the direct left of the property is a small farm with 8-10 apple trees that the deer feed on in night. Above the house, a power line runs through the woods- this is the only spot on the property that a deer has been taken thus far(Two decent 8 pointers, two consecutive years).

Upon first glance of these terrain maps, does anyone see some potential areas to further investigate. Is topographic analysis even useful on a property like this? Or in general, have any tips to hunt thick mountainous woods like this?
