Chinese rage result – first time using #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Shot a down last night at 24 yds. She was slightly quartered to and I put it in there perfect getting a piece of both lungs. She didn’t go far. That’s the good part. The broadhead did its job. But……the head was destroyed. Blades gone, screw gone. Entire head bent. Here is a picture. I know, I know, "the broadhead did its job." Yes it did, but what if I hit a rib next time? Or anything hard? I’m done with these.

Using a old Stani rope head on a D loop #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am getting back into the archery game after about 25 years away, and man have things changed. I have a couple of old Stanislawski rope head releases ( a CNC, and a 4 finger). My bow is set up with a D loop and I am playing with a couple of different releases so that works fine.
My question is, can I take the rope off my old Stani releases and hook them to the D loop and will they work just fine.

Thanks
John

Using turkey decoys in the woods #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So this year I’m trying something different. I am focusing on hunting in the woods and hunting turkeys like I do deer instead of hunting field edges exclusively. Just pick a spot and sit there for a long time.

It almost worked out the first try. I setup on the top of a steep ridge. It’s a tough walk but I always had trail cam pics of turkeys there so I figured I would give it a shot. Within an hour I had 4 jakes come in down the ridge. They saw the decoys and got scared and hung up just out of range.

While the jakes came in I had some toms and hens come in from below me. They were 40 yards away but did not come close enough for a shot. The same thing happened a little later with a few more toms. All the birds were responding to my calls, even the hens. But they wouldn’t come close enough for a shot.

I was using a decoy with a jake fan and a hen decoy. They saw the decoys but wouldn’t come in. In fact, I think had I not had he decoys I’d have at least gotten a shot at one of the jakes. Am I better off not using decoys in the woods?

If you’re NOT using a drop-away rest….. #archery

What are you using? I’ve tried several drop-aways and they work fine but I’m not sure I’ve gained much from a practical standpoint over a whisker biscuit or nap 360.

Using press as a drawboard

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I bought an ez press then ordered a drawboard from at member….but then got thinking why can’t the press itself be a drawboard? Put an attachment in one end to hold bow and an eye bolt on angle iron on the other with a turnbuckle and use the press as the winch …is that not doable

Scent eliminator anyone else using Lethal?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I Have tried several different scent elimination spray and have had the best luck with Lethal field spray. I shot my 160" buck last season with the buck down wind of me. I usually spray down before I walk to the stand and then spray myself every so often in the stand. I usually bust mature bucks down wind with previous scent sprays. Just wondering if anyone else is having success with this stuff?
