Traveling Bowhunter

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

If I am traveling via Airlines out west to chase critters, what is the best way for bow to travel? Checked baggage or shipped UPS? My local archery pro shop owner says the baggage guys are making a game out of destroying bow cases these days and UPS will be safer bet. Thoughts? Experiences?

Traveling with a crossbow

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Who here has traveled with a crossbow. I am taking my son to Manitoba bear hunting in spring and he wants to use a crossbow. I am curious to know when I fly will a crossbow be considered a fire arm or a bow. And, anybody that has gone to Canada, how is it viewed there. I know it’s a lot easier to travel with a bow than a firearm, especially Canada. Just wondering if anybody has experience traveling with one especially to another country????

Thinking of traveling to NFAA Nats next year

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m having oodles of fun shooting my recurve and I’m starting to shoot fairly well after shooting trad for a few months. I shot a 233 this morning on the 40cm NFAA single spot target. I had 2 bad rounds when the range master decided to blast some tribal drum music in the middle of my 9th round and I lost focus for a bit. I was just wondering if anybody had any tips about training for the nationals. February’s a pretty bad month for me to get out of work, so if there are any other fun comps, particularly in the west or in May or Sep/Oct/Nov, that you’d suggest, that would be cool. Thanks.
