Let’s come together as hunters – Website Idea – Hunt Sharing

So this idea came to be a while back. I’ve had some experience building websites for political campaigns and have made some forums a long time ago. I posted this idea on a facebook group i’m on and it got some good feedback, figured this would be a wider scope to talk about it here.

The website/ forum/ whatever would be a way for hunters to connect and "hunt share" with other people with comparable land. The idea really kicked off for me when I started asking around locally if anyone had land in kansas where Rio’s were the main turkey to harvest. With no leads, and not wanting to drop $ 1,500 on an outfitter I started to think to myself that SOMEONE in kansas would let me hunt their land if I let them hunt mine. Better yet, I’m SURE I could find someone in florida, and someone in Nebraska that has access to Meriams and Osceola’s that would like to hunt my farm for turkeys or whitetails.

So the website would go something like this. You would make a profile, which includes information on what you want to hunt, what you have access too, and all the details. I hope this makes sense. The point is to make inter-state hunting as cheap as possible. Get 2,3,4 or more people on board that all hunt together on different properties that THEY own, and you’ve got a pretty sweet year ahead of you. So i’ll make a quick example.

Hunter 1 – Lives in Missouri, has a 400 acre farm with good turkey population and frequent 130-150 inch whitetails.
Hunter 2 – Lives in Ohio. Has a 600 acre farm with good turkey population and frequent 140-160 inch whitetails.
Hunter 3 – Lives in Montana. Has access to 2000 acres with black bear and Elk.
Hunter 4 – Lives in Nebraska. Has 1000 acre farm with antelope and turkey.

These four hunters collaborate on said website, and before you know it, you have access to three new states and 4 new species that you’ve never hunted before. All you have to do is buy your out of state tag. This would also encourage hunters to take better care of their land, put in food plots, pass on smaller animals, etc. You could even have a record of animals and sizes taken on each land. So if a Hunter 5 pops up and says he would like in on the action, but doesn’t have much to bring to the table, the other hunters can decide together if they want to pass on it or not.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Does something like this already exist?
