I just bought my first bow, but there’s a flaw on a limb. Is this dangerous?

It’s been strung and unstrung once, never fired though.

I’ve never owned a bow before and was reading up in how to inspect limbs for damage that can happen from use, what to look for. Delamination, splintering, and stuff like that.

I found a site recommending feeling over every inch of the limbs for any rough spots (there shouldn’t be any)

Anyway, I tried that with mine, which I just got and noticed a line on the side of the limb of a rough patch of spongy looking wood. (Or possibly just wood that has some deep pits that are full of foamy glue/air bubbles?)

Is this something that would be a problem, or just a normal thing?

This is a samik sage recurve.

Never had this Happen

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So there I am last night sitting in a ladder stand that I just put up. Had 2 little bucks come on early on in the evening let them walk. About 530 here comes another buck, he is just a spike and meanders around for what seemed like forever eating apples. After 30 or 45 minutes he walk away, or so I thought and I had to fart, so I let it rip. It sounded like a litte grunt, I am sitting here in front of you as a man, telling you this little buck came back and was withing 5 yards trying to find out where the other buck was.

Help, What sight is this?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

All I know is it was made by Cobra, just don’t know how old it is, what its worth, or its quality.

Friend of mine gave it to me, he said he didn’t need it, and was just going to throw it away. I am curious if it is worth putting on my bow? Currently I have a little $ 30 Tru Glo 4 pin sight from 2009. Nothing fancy but it works, my complaint is the Fiber optics are not at all bright.

The fiber optics on this sight are a little damaged and not that bright so I am curious if it worth trying to replace them and see if they are any brighter than my current one? Can I buy parts for this sight? The "tool less" adjustment knobs are a little beat up and if possible Id like to find new ones. It also needs the screws to mount it to the bow.

Is this sight worth trying to spend a few dollars on or should I keep it as a backup?

Is this corn any good?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Just got permission to hunt a small piece of private property and looking to put out some corn and a camera to see what’s around. I opened this new bag and it had a musty smell and some of the kernels have a powdery mold like coating on them. Is this normal? Is it still good? Or should I grab a new bag?IMG_2558.jpg

why are bows designed/built this way?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Have often wondered why bows are designed with the nock and arrow rest above the centerline of the bow, thus creating upward nock travel as the bow is drawn, instead of centered between the axles, so the nock travel would be straight or level. If I understand right, the Mathews no cam is centered, are any other manufacturers doing this? It seems like it would be the most logical thing to do, so why aren’t they?

Would you mess with this walkback?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I did walkback tuning out to 40 today. Top arrow is 30, bottom is 40. Should I continue to mess with this or call it done? Will be hunting with this rig. Longest shot I will probably take is 50 if everything was perfect. My average kill shot for the last 4 years is 17 – 22 yards.
