Can Nocks make a difference…. I think so, just my opinion… #archery

I was shooting today and was finished tuning the bow. Paper, Bareshaft, Modified French, Walkback and Finally Broadhead Tuned, yes, it may have been overkill but I am very confident in that if I miss it will be because of me not the bow. Anyway I started shooting Bareshafts to get groups and identify any shafts that need to be Nock Tuned. I want all of the shafts within the 10 ring, well I had three arrows outside the 10 ring to the left so I grabbed those three and was going to nock tune them then realized that they had different nocks than the others. There is a total of 9 Bareshafts, 6 had accunocks the other three had factory nock. Out of curiosity I decided to put on three Accunocks to those three shafts and they hit the 10 ring. I reshot all 9 bareshafts, this time all with Accunocks and they all hit within the 10 ring. Shot a third group of nine and again all hit within the 10 ring. I was just trying Accunocks, not really committed. I am now committed, so much so that I ordered 36 more Accunocks today. Yes a nock can make a difference.

ok so what ya think?

been messing around with the experience i got the other day and think that i got it tuned for now but still got to bare shaft tune at range. any way the paper tune went ok i guess dead level through the berger and center shot at 13/16 had a little low and right tear. put one full twist in both right yoke legs and that cleared up the right tear but that low tear i could not get rid of to save my life. tried moving the rest tried moving my nock point but to no avail. well then i remembered that when i synced my cams that they were dead even, and remembered that with my hoyt i always had a low tear unless the top cam was advanced a little.

sooo i took a half twist out of each of the top yoke legs and and put one full twist into the bottom single loop of the cable. the two half twists out of the top yoke legs were to avoid a half twist in the solid cable, because one full twist from the solid side of the cable was too much movement in the cam sync. so back on the draw board and the top cam was now advanced by about 1/16 of an inch. set my paper back up and bam perfect hole (or at least perfect enough for me). by the way all the tuning to this point has been with a bare shaft. the fletched are tearing just a smidge low but i think that i am getting contact on the veins, its no matter i am going to be going to 5 inch feathers soon.

any way how do my knots look for my peep and my nock point? any tips? oh yeah and could having that torqueless d-loop instead of normal cause me to need the top cam advanced to clear up low tear? so far so good now as soon as my sight gets here for the bow i will sight in and get it bare shaft tuned out to around 40 yards then throw some broad heads at it. its funny too that getting the bow tuned this far the specs are dead nuts 32 ata 7 inch brace and maxes out at just a hair over 60 pounds weight.

pics to follow momentarily

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Awesome Buck thought him , long short is pulled off a 72 yard shot with my HCA speed pro x 10 DCA 300 HUNTER @ 28.5 76 LB and a lot of luck . I was in my stand around 9 am I started to see a few nice bucks out of range . This guy came in on the hill side to my south crossed a little behind a tree I ranged at 40 yards , so i put my 40 yard pin top of the shoulder burped and released . I then realized that he was quite a bit further thai I thought as i heard the impact and watched him turn to see the arrow sticking out his side gave time and tracked for a total of 3/4 mile found in a creek hit liver and lung took forever to find glad i did not give up any one no the score?4

Outdoor Life: for Hunting bow, no wrist sling or stabilizer -what do you think?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

In an article in the new Outdoor Life it describes how to pare down a bow’s accessories to the absolute bare necessities for hunting. They say get rid of a wrist sling because it’s for a better grip and don’t use a stabilizer. I’m pretty sure they are talking about stand hunters who normally don’t shoot past 30 yards. I’m sure a plains hunter who may take shots out to 70 yards or more may definitely want a long stabilizer.

Since I added a Bowstix Bipod to my bow (which I love), I have not put my 8" PSE stabilizer back on. The bow is just as accurate without it. The only reason I had the stabilizer, which was just really a dampener at that length, was to keep my wrist sling on.

I thought a wrist sling was so you didn’t drop your bow, not for a better grip. So which is correct, or is it for both those reasons?

What do you think about this article?
