PHOENIX, Az. — West Virginia’s elk herd is expected to grow again in the coming months, this time with animals from the state of Arizona.

The Arizona Game and Fish Commission on Saturday approved a measure to allow up to 60 elk from their state to be sent to West Virginia as part of the effort to reestablish an elk herd in the southern coalfield region.

The story, first reported by the Charleston Gazette-Mail, indicated the transfer of the animals could happen in the next two to four years.

“Additional translocations in the next 2-4 years may be considered pending the success of this translocation and the status of our elk populations here [in Arizona],” Munig told the Gazette-Mail on Monday. “We are not starting the logistical planning for the translocation, so we do not have more details yet.”

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has not yet commented on the action by the Arizona Commission. It’s anticipated the elk would be transferred to the Tomblin Wildlife Management Area in Logan County where about two dozen elk were released in December.

The West Virginia Elk Restoration Plan called for the reintroduction on at least two southern West Virginia sites. Earlier this year on West Virginia Outdoors, DNR Elk Project Leader Randy Kelly indicated the next several releases would occur at the Tomblin WMA since the release facilities are already in place.

Last year, the Division of Natural Resources trapped and transferred 24 elk from the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky and hauled them to West Virginia. Three of those animals died after the transfer, but two elk calves were born during the summer.

The published report indicated the plan would involve the elk being transported to West Virginia during January, February, or March by a professional livestock hauling company, possibly as early as 2018.

Thank you EW Bateman. they have made me a belt for my Bateman quiver that I’ve used for years that goes over my left shoulder and hangs down on the right side where my quiver would normally be, but I have a urostomy now due to a battle with cancer and every time I have tried to wear a quiver with a belt, it ends up in a disaster if you know what I mean. What is even better than sliced bread is that I can tell it’s one heck of a lot more comfortable than when I wore a belt and quiver. I hated having to pull it up constantly. this definitely is the bomb….At least for me… thank you so much. No more trying to figure out what to do with my bullets…. Just thought I’d throw that out there for anyone who is burdened with this issue too.

This stuff is cracking me up. It amazes me how many people on here are showing their true colors. What a bunch of losers.

You got a dvd that you didn’t like, wow, big deal. This ain’t blockbuster.

The guy has all the same stuff written out in a sentence by sentence document. Why in the heck would you need a dvd to start with?!?! AND then complain about it. I have always said it, this forum is full of overly sensitive people. It’s hard to block out this BS to stay on track

You people are crazy (all the cry babies, not the normal people), this is a freaking internet forum, get a life.

There is no doubt he is far more knowledgeable on archery tuning than most on here, so why are you going to bash him because his DVD didn’t live up to your expectations. I haven’t seen the DVD but I wouldn’t expect it to be too over the top, I mean it is archery tuning, it’s not a football game.

I posted something very ugly this morning. I knew it was nasty and then I backed off on my position to see if anyone noticed but nobody did. Some of you have engaged me in actual conversation and I learned a great deal from you and from the rest of the posts. I am an archer second and a hunter something like second or third so this was very educational for me to read how people think and how they react. Believe me when I tell you I do not like to create turmoil but in this case it was the onloy way I could learn what I needed to know. I do apologize to those I offended because you are probably great people.

I truly do try to be a good person and a disciple of Christ so this was not that much fun for me but I needed the information. I can share some details but if you are curious I will do it through PM’s.

In reality I really don’t care what people shoot because here in NC we have too many deer. They are even getting hit by cars in the city these days.

Again please accept my apologies if I offended you.

Awesome Day of Shooting, Thank You

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I haven’t posted on my progress lately, so I figured today is a good day to do so. I frequently read the threads here on AT, and add my 2 cents occasionally. There is an abundance of knowlege available here and I try to use as much of it as I can. Recently, I dropped in bow weight from 57#@27 to 46@#27. I did this because even though I could draw, anchor and hold the heavier weight I was having difficulty controlling my bow arm. I also was loaned all of the Masters of the Barebows DVD’s, from my good archer friend and fellow Connoquenessing Valley Bowman member, Kegan.

The MBB videos are excellent, there is alot of information on there with regards to form, target panic, etc. I decided to put Rod Jenkins 7 steps at the Blank bale to work. My goal was to tame my bow arm, fine tune my shot sequence, and clean up my release. I did this religiously all week, either before work in the morning, after work, or both. I broke alot of nocks, and one shaft shooting close range blank bale, LOL! I am amazed at the immediate results that I have gained. I am a work in progress, and have a long way to go, but March of this year will mark 1 year from when I purchased my Samick Sage and decided to go traditional.

Below you will find 2 pictures. We had 2 shoots today. I shot both with my 66" Omega Longbow 46#@27, Gold Tip 5575 Trads full length, 225g up front. We shot a traditional only 3D this morning out in the snow and 15 degree weather, 30 targets, max score 300 (10 ring, 8 vital, 5 body). Even with frozen fingers, I shot a 242, my personal best. I even hit the 11 ring (even though we don’t score it) on a 30 yd Bear target. This afternoon we headed to the club, for our Sunday traditional bows 600 Fita round. I shot a 483, my personal best, and 34 points higher than my previous best. The difference today was I felt I could not miss. I did not hit yellow on every arrow, but at release I felt like I was going to hit it, my bow arm was steady, my form was solid, and there was NO target panic. I should mention also I have to cant the bow a good 30 degrees or more to clear the ceiling, so I am anxious to see how well I can shoot next year when we replace the roof and raise the ceiling at the club allowing me to shoot more vertically.

Thanks for looking. I credit many here at AT for my success, you have been a welcome wealth of knowledge for me this past year. Also thanks to Kegan who I shoot with often. He is a living archery encyclopedia, an excellent bowyer, and has been a huge part of my sucess.
