Need Taxidermist Advice re Coating a Euro #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve been doing my first euro hog mount. It looks really nice. I’ve filled the tusks with epoxy to keep them strong.

But I’m wondering if there is something I can spray on the entire head to keep it from flaking or chipping over time. Is there?

I killed this elk in September, in Wyoming. Left it with taxidermist that outfitter recommended. I have used the taxidermist before with no issues. Well I wanted this elk scored for Pope and Young, called and talked to them many times in regards to making sure it got scored. After not hearing from them after the drying period I called again, they said scorer was backed up and he would get to it. Well I get an email this week stating the antlers were cut off before it was scored. The did score it for SCI and it was 280 and 4/8. I realize there are deductions for pope and young but I also think there is also another spread measurement for pope and young. To try and appease me he took antlers to the scorer and and the score measured the antlers and came up with 252 even. 8 points shy. That’s over 22 points in deductions from just the SCI score not including the other spread measurement. I don’t want to get into whether or not an animal should be entered? Just wanting some opinions on which direction to turn? Thanks

Shoulder mount care? Any taxidermist? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

With good shoulder mounts costing upwards of $ 500, what are you guys doing to keep them looking great? I have seen some mounts 20 years old that look phenomenal, and others that look like zombie deer. How do you guys take care of your mounts? If any taxidermists are around, what do you recommend? What should we be doing to ensure our mounts stay looking great?

Looking for great taxidermist within 2hr drive from Albany, NY

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey all,
I am looking for a taxidermist with great skills within a 2hr drive from Albany NY. As you may have seen, I have another thread started about a mount I just got back that I am not happy with. I am looking for a taxidermist that can remount it. The cape probably cannot be reused so I will most likely need a new cape. Also, one of the tines was repaired by the other taxidermist…it is o.k. BUT could use some touch up. My criteria is a taxidermist who can do a great job and make this deer mount look much better. You can find pictures in this thread http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2279297.
Thanks!

This is my 2013 buck. He’s not done yet. Still gotta airbrush him. He said the pics don’t do it justice. I’ll get him back in about 2 weeks. Can’t wait to get him on the wall.

How should I deal with my taxidermist?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Alright guys well back in November I dropped a buck off at a new taxidermist for me, all the reviews online were positive and he was known for having a quick turnaround time. He told me my buck should be done in January, so in the beginning of January I gave him a call just to see when I should pick it up, he tells me he just put the hide on the form and it’ll be done in 3 weeks. Well almost 2 months go by so I call him again, this time he gives me the same answer, he tells me he just put the hide on the form the day before and it’ll be ready in about 3 weeks and he’ll call me a week before its done. I was a little perplexed and wanted to call him out on it but didn’t want to make him mad and have something happen, well its been 2 weeks since that last call and i don’t know this is something I’ve never dealt with, anyone have any advice on what to do?
