Rinehart targets What are they made of?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I have the luxury of having my local club having the 3 D range set up from april to October. Now I have a mix of 15 rineharts and 20 or so R & W targets on the range. The issue is I put 8 brand new Rineharts on the range this year and something is eating them. Squirrel or chipmunks , going after the ears noses and such. Only the new ones, not the 5 year old Rineharts . They are not touching the R & W targets.
What the heck are these targets made of? Is there something that I can spray on them to deter this?

Targets

Bought some SpyderWeb targets and some of Ralph Harris’s Cube targets. Shot them the other day in the shop after bedding some scope rails. We shot these at 4 yards. 392gr BEE, 384fps out of a 125 Vent. Both targets had maybe 5-8 inches pentration. And arrows pulled easy. The SpyderWebs are 24x24x14 and the Cube was 18x18x18 I think. The Webs were around 250 with shipping and Ralphs was 150 with the inner core to shoot broadheads. Both are nice targets both stop a fast crossbow arrow. One is more versatile than the other. Cant go wrong on either one. Built some stands for these that have a Cube and a Web both stacked and they roll around. Building 3 sets so we can shoot 30-60-90 or 20-40-60 etc with out much trouble. Then we can change Ralphs core and shoot broadheads. The Webs are one heavy target!!!!!!

Anyone have BLACKTAIL DEER height/shoulder measurements? I’m making some targets

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m making some silhouette targets and am hoping to find a couple of real world measurements on BLACKTAILS.

I’ve got lots of sideview photos to scale up, just wondering how big to go!

I know they differ a lot, just looking for numbers that others have gotten.

I’ve never measured anything except how much meat went to the freezer.

Anyways- hoping someone has some measurements or knows where to find some online.

Really interested in height at top of back over the kill zone, and the belly off the ground height right below kill zone. Things that would be appreciated while making targets.

Maybe someone has access to a full standing taxidermy specimen and has a couple of minutes to measure?

Waiting until next season just wont do for me… That and I’d be measuring the smallest buck in the woods :)

Thanks!

DIY Reactive 3D Targets for cheap

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I know that I drink WAAAAY too much coffee… :) But it keeps me awake to think of stuff like this:005.JPG001.JPG002.JPG004.JPG
You can use coffee or sugar plastic cans, disinfectant wipe or whatever container you like… Poke a couple of holes in the side of the can, run a little paracord thru and tie it in a loop. Stuff an old T shirt or 2 in the can and pack it down tight. Pop the lid back on and hang it up… You can tape the top on with duct tape or Electrical. But it’s not necessary.
Arrows will most likely go thru both sides of the can. But they transfer plenty of energy if they are hung and free swinging and you shouldn’t get to the fletching. You need 2 hands to get your arrow out because you have to hold the can. But they come out easy enough.
I tried spray foam and great stuff in them. But they don’t do any better with either and can be sticky/messy on the arrows.
We shoot 45-55 longbows and recurves at them and they loads are fun… Get one swinging for a moving target. I shoot my compounds at them from different distances and yardages.
The only thing that I do NOT recommend is using any of the cheaper ALUMINUM arrows like gamegetters and fall stalkers. They will bend on impact just from the momentum and sudden deceleration…
The added pic of the "robin hood" was just in the same folder so I left the pics. It was done by one of my nephew’s friends with a 45# samick sage during our "Tuesday morning trad achery camp"…
Have fun with these

What keeps the filling from bag targets from falling out

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Pardon my ignorance but I would think after so many shots the bag would have some decent sized holes. What keeps the insides on the inside?

Im just trying to figure everything out between bag and block targets.

Archery Shooting – The Skill of How to Shoot Archery Targets

Archery Shooting – The Skill of How to Shoot Archery Targets

When you speak of an archery range this can be described as the closer your archery shooting is to the targets, the higher your score is going to be. Archery is scored individually, by each player. The scores are then added up and he, or she, with the highest accumulated score is declared the winner.

Archery shooting is categorized into types, for example Field Archery and Target Archery. To shoot archery targets, the player will shoot the arrow from various distances at one target which is also known as range targets. These targets are usually block targets and are made of foam. When engaged in Field archery, the archers are permitted to move around and shoot at targets of various sizes and from a variety of distances.

The bows which are primarily used in these types of archery shooting, are constructed of fiberglass or carbon and contain fitted stabilizers and sights. The stabilizers primary purpose is to stabilize the bow for the archer. The arrows have pointed tips which are made of metal. The metal is found on both the front and the back of the arrow.

The use of ropes, which are made out of straw, are stitched together to create the archery targets also known as butts. The targets will consist of either paper on canvas, which is comprised of color, a foam block with several different marks painted around the block and 3D archery targets which are the most popular with the sport.

When shooting Archery targets, there are rules that need to be attended to by the archers. In competition, archers may use any bow they wish with the exception of the Crossbow, which is not allowed. Crossbows use different types of targets due to the fact that these bows shoot a crossbow bolt which would go to deep into these kind of targets, making them very difficult to remove. It will also run a risk of the bolt and fletching, getting stripped off.

Competitive archery also requires that each archer have their own crest, of different colors, on their arrows. This will make it easier to identify each player individually. As in many other sports, an archer may not shoot their arrows until they are given a signal by the judges.

Archery shooting allows the archer to only release six arrows at any specified target. Every arrow counts towards the six, regardless of any arrow malfunctions. Even if the arrow drops to the ground without any flight. To begin a competition, the farthest archery range is shot first and then tappers down gradually after the first arrow has been released.

There is a difference in the distances made, during competition, between the men and women archers. For instance, the men will shoot 90, 70, 50 and 30 meters. The women, on the other hand, shoot at 70, 60, 50 and 30 meters. Shooting Archery has become a very popular sport and many are wanting to learn this skillful sport which can be very self gratifying as well as a whole Lotta fun!

As we mentioned briefly before, there are a variety of archery targets that one may use. A target that has a very durable face and is applied together by pressure and heat, are known as the pro weave target. 3D archery targets are the most favored by archers these days. They bring thrill the sport and can be used by both a beginner as well as a master archer. These targets are an effective way to improve archery shooting.

You can also make 3D archery targets at home. The home made version consists of corrugated cardboard, foam padding, cording, excelsior and wooden boards to name a few ingredients. The block target is highly used for range shooting and to bring your archery shooting to a more precise marksmanship. These targets are, of course, square and made of foam.

There are different marks and skill levels drawn on the block for the archer to identify with. Because of the way block and foam targets are constructed, it makes it easier for the arrows to be taken out. An archer can remove the arrows easily with one hand.

The sport of archery requires many skills and high concentration. It requires continuous learning, unique strategies and gainful knowledge to out shoot an opponent. To be able to master the art of archery shooting and being consistent in how you hit your targets, be adventurous and open your mind to always improve your technique, no matter what your skill level is. Your title of a Master Pro Archer, is within shooting range.

If you would like to improve your archery shooting significantly, take it to a higher level and learn the secret techniques and strategies that not even the Master Archers have been exposed to yet, visit us at How To Shoot Archery Targets, for more information.
