Good 3D target #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

My buddy and I have been shooting our bag targets a lot, but we’d like to get one or two 3D targets to shoot. I need something that’s good size and will last. I’ve been looking at the GlenDel buck target but I don’t have any experience with them. What do you guys suggest, and WHERE do you know to get the best deal?

Target bow accessory recommendations for a newbie? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

hi all!

I’m going to be taking the target archery journey with my 9 year old daughter as of this weekend… 🙂

I’m pretty sure I’m getting her a bow package such as the Diamond Infinite Edge PRO. For myself, I plan on getting a used recent-model target bow…which is usually sold bare. I’m going to test a few bow makes/models out this weekend so see what my exact draw length is going to end up being (I’m 6’4", 75" wingspan) and then will move pretty quickly into a used bow so that we can shoot during my kid’s Summer vacation, at least a few times per week. Once my bow choice is made, I’ll need to get all the accessories to make the bow complete: release, rest, sight, and stabilizers. What’s a solid arrow that also doesn’t break the bank? I know that these items can be a deep (and expensive) rabbit hole but I also recognize that as my bow tastes may change these accessories may also be traveling with me from bow to bow…so I want to buy good reasonably-priced items without breaking the bank and doubling the cost of the bow. I’m currently planning on looking at acquiring one of the following bows: PSE Evolve 35, Hoyt Podium X 40 or Vantage, Fanatic, or maybe a Halon X…something with a 35+" ATA, for sure.

What are your favorite picks for these items for target/3D shooting? Assume I don’t have an AmEx Black card lol 😉

Matrix target #archery

Don’t understand the pricing of this target? I do like the idea where 295.00 is pretty steep, but the real problem is the pricing on the modules, which is highway robbery.

If the replacement modules were more inline with the cost of the overall target, I’d order one now. The issue 295.00 for the target, that contains 7 hex modules and 6 diamond modules. Hex modules are 49.95 each and diamond modules are 34.95 each. So over the years if you were to replace all the modules one at a time, you’d spend 559.35 to rebuild the target? What are they smoking, it don’t add up, and the reason I will not buy one.

Now if the hex replacements were 25.00 each and the diamond modules were 20.00 each, it would cost you 295.00 to rebuild it, the way it should be, if they want to sell many? Like I said I like the idea, but until I see replacement modules inline with the overall target price, if that ever happens, I sure will not be buying. You’d be better off to buy two targets and use one as replacement modules, but kind of defeats the purpose.

Target Range Build Part 2…well, 1-1/2 #archery

Damned rain! I tried to do as much as possible today with the roof, but I’ll have to wait until a better day…and have a helping hand. I could probably horse it up myself, but setting it and installing it correctly looks to be a pain.

Just like last week, I laid out all my materials (so I thought):

The front and rear 2"x4"’s are cut to 6′, as that’s the OD of the vertical posts. The sides are 6′ 6", as the roof panels are 6′ 7" and I wanted some overlap front and back without having to trim them. I made sure they were square and attached them with 3" wood screws.

2-1/2′ from the front, I installed a 6′ long crossmember.

I laid the roofing panels out, but my math was off and two were not enough to cover. Went back to Home Depot and found out that A- they were/are on clearance and discontinued; and B- they showed 21 left in inventory but could not find them. Well, they had 69 at the New Freedom, PA store. Thank God for smartphones and the Internet. Lowe’s had them. All of two. But I only needed one lol.

Came and laid them out, drilled pilot holes and installed the panels with the appropriate screws with rubber washers to prevent leakage.

I also cut two small blocks out of a 2"x4", with a ten degree slope so the roof is just slightly canted for drainage, but should not catch that much wind (didn’t take a pic of that but will when it’s time to hump the roof out to the target range). Once I have the roof balanced on those blocks and set in place, I’ll drill the pilot holes and install with 5/16" lag screws, then cut two brackets out of 2"x4"’s to install between the sides and the vertical posts to the rear of the 4"x4" posts.

It’s taken and is still taking some time, but it will be nice when it’s finished. No more wet and faded targets.

Why can’t I shoot a target accurately? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve been shooting a bow my whole life and would consider myself a fairly good shooter, not great or a pro by any means. My issue is not being able to shoot a target consistently. When I shoot a 3-D target I’m always right on the money and if im trying to shoot a group they’re all right there together and exactly where I aim. The problem though, is when I try to shoot a circle on a target or something like a Vegas or 5-Spot target i can’t shoot worth crap. I shot a 5-Spot the other day and ended up with something in the high 260’s or low 270’s and 20 some X’s. (I cant remember the exact numbers). Does anyone have any ideas why I’m struggling or any tips? Thanks.
