How common is it to have animals "jump the string" and move before the arrow gets there? Any bad experiences with it? I personally have not had any, but I’m just curious what others may have experienced.
A lot of people are shooting a long ways at animals these days. Just curious about what bow speeds and shot distances people are comfortable with for longer shots.
Random Facts:
Time of flight for a 300 fps arrow going 80 yards is .8 seconds
A humans reaction time (for comparison) to an audible stimulus is .17 seconds. A 300 fps bow can only go 17 yards in that time.
Do your thoughts on the subject change depending on animal? Whitetails can be pretty high strung. Elk seem to be less cagey. Muleys… well, they’re muleys.

Looking for any tips for getting wax out of serving. Im tearing my buddies bow apart cleaning and re-tuning it etc. He waxed the string and serving. The wax from the serving is building up in his cam tracks and im curious if anyone has any tricks for removing wax from the serving other than scraping the strings for a new set.
Thanks!

Looking for opinions on arrow speed required to overcome a whitetail jumping the string. Wondering if there is a useful equation out there……. or just general info works too.
I understand certain things come into play here such as distance, is the deer alert, ambient noise, bow noise…etc. So lets say an alert deer at 30 yards on a quiet morning.

Ordered some custom colored strings from 60x. 2 sets. Look great, service was fast and easy to deal with. I am having a string length discrepancy that I am sure one of the guru’s on here could put my mind at ease. Strings are for a Bear Carnage which is single cam. Online shows lengths to be:
String: 92 3/16
Cable: 33 9/16
I requested these length’s for this bow OR if these lengths were incorrect, use spec lengths for 2011 Bear Carnage. Now the ones I removed are a bit longer than spec. Heck, could be original, who knows. They measure:
String: 92 6/16 (+3/16 over spec)
Cable: 33 12/16 (+3/16 over spec)
Not concerned with those as they are older and being longer than spec is kinda expected.
When I went to install these after removing the older ones I had to crank the limbs quite a bit more to even have a chance at stringing the bow. So I went and measured all the new strings. Came up with:
String: 91 10/16 (-9/16 under spec)
Cable: 33 4/16 (-5/16 under spec)
I measured these very closely using a nail and pulling them quite tight. The new strings only have a couple twists so there is no excessive twisting going on. Probably had a little less twist than old strings.
Notes with new strings:
1. Bow gained at least 5 lbs in draw weight. Was about 66 lbs. Definately over 70 now and the limbs are not close to cranked down. Probably get at least 75+ lbs out of the bow if I turned the bolts all the way in. Limb bolts turned all in when I got it new, it was closer to 70-72. Has 60-70 lb limbs.
2. Cam is rotated identical as prior.. I have 3 of these exact model bows so easy to compare.
3. Now the string being twice as long as cable works because it run the length between cams twice so it seems geometry and timing should be ok.
4. I ordered 2 sets. Both sets measure identical
5. Axle to Axle was 32 1/8" prior. Now it is 31 13/16" I measured this and other dimensions so I knew where to set my peep sight in relation to my nocking point. Figured it would save some guess work.
I really would rather NOT send them in and all that hassle. Bit of a time pinch as I need to redo this bow and a second bow 100% done by middle next week. I have not contacted 60x yet because I just switched the strings 30 mins ago and its late. Goal was to set new strings up and peep tonight and go to shorting range and paper tune tomorrow.
So in short, turn down the poundage accordingly and just go with it or is something going to give me issues?

Hi everybody,
Im new in this amazing world of archery and I have some doubts, maybe you can help me, first, bow components
Riser: Ragim Red Lion, ILF system 19"
Lambs: SF Archery Elite Fibra Foam 70"@28lb
String: Fast flight 24"
First problem,
No idea which is the best brace height, I have been testing between 7,50 to 9 and no good results, any indication ?
Second problem (related to the first one probably)
On release the string it slaps my bow hand wrist (close to the thumb) and also the riser. (photo attached)

Other points: When I was doing the initiation course and on buying the bow on the store they said to me my draw length was around 32
Thanks!

I have had an issue with a string and am not sure where the problem is, I hope someone can help
I have had a Halon 32 7 for about 3 years. About 6 months ago I had the string break (while I was shooting a tournament). The string broke at the top and bottom in the serving, The tech that changed it said it looked like it was a clean cut/break This was the original string which had about 1,00 shots. Before it broke I noticed that my peep was rotating counter clockwise. I am concerned because I am noticing that it looks like the peep is rotating again.
Is there something that I should look out for or do to keep this form happening again?????
Thanks
