Got a little extra cash for some new gear. For late treestand hunting, and I carry all my outer clothes in and get dressed in my stand, which do you think?? Kuiu Axis Hybrid or the Sitka Fanatic??
Assuming the same core layers. And I don’t hunt in the rain.
So let this be known I have never used hang and hunt type set up. I have either used permanent hang on b that have been up for years or use my climber I have been tossing around the idea of buying a good hang on and four sticks to really try and expand my hunting. Anyone have any advice? Are they a pain to set up and take down? I was looking at the lone wolf kit and the easy strap to start and go from there. I dont mind spending the money in a good set I usually go with the buy once cry once when it comes to this stuff. I would like to get way before hunting season to practice and go from there. I am open to any and advice tips stand recommendations. Thanks
Just curious what peoples thoughts are about when is is to late to get up in a stand? Juggling work, kids, life I sometimes can’t get up in a stand in the evening until about an hour before sunset. I was wondering if this will mess with my other hunts in the area where I do have more time. My thought is even if I don’t get anything it is still nice to get some stand time when possible. What do you think more harm than good?? What is the cutoff between going and not going for you more experienced hunters?
I’m in a hunting lease and the terrain is huge and rough (3500 acres). I have a SxS and I was wondering how you guys keep your clothes scent free if you’re in a similar situation? Last year I only had a 4 wheeler so i had to put my clothes on outside the truck and ride in and I think that hurt me…I can put them in a tote but which tote would you guys recommend? I’d like one that actually seals.
I know there’s been a few threads here on climbers and I’ve been doing my research on them. Got the opportunity to hunt a great piece of private up in northern Wisconsin. Went up there last year to do a short hunt and noticed a lot of birch’s, oaks, and pines that would be perfect for a climber. Basically a weekend hunt here and there, probably sitting all day….being 6’1" and 225 lbs., I thought a nice climber would do the job on this property. Was trying to decide on the Summit Viper or the Lone Wolf hand climber combo 2. Any other stands that you feel would be worth looking at, please let me know. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
