Suggestions for Sitka Setup – Hunting Texas #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I live and hunt in the hill country of Central Texas. I’m interested in investing in a new Sub Alpine Sitka setup. The temperatures here range from high 30’s -50’s, usually with a breeze. Hunting is done mainly in ground blinds with some occasional stalking.

My first thought was:
Mountain Jacket for wind
Marino wool or Sitka Traverse hoody for first layer.

I would like to hear your suggestions.

Also, is Sitka meant to run snug? I’m 5’11 and right at 200 lbs. Typically I wear a large but the Traverse fit pretty snug.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

Thinking about a Sitka Shacket #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So I was wondering on people that had this and how you wore them. Sitka says you can wear it under a larger jacket for colder times. How is the fit? I know they are great products but just wanted some thoughts. Thank you for anything.

Sitka Fanatic Hoodie vs Traverse Cold Weather Hoodie

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Trying to decide between these two. I know the Traverse does not come in EVII….wish it did but probably not a deal killer.

I plan to use this as an outer layer in early season and then as a layer piece under my Stratus once it gets colder. I will also wear this on coyote hunts and then turkey hunts in the spring.

I am thinking the Traverse may be too warm for Spring turkey hunts. Thoughts?

- Can you wear the facemasks on these without the hoodie being up?

- Would the Traverse be too bulky if I layer with merino base then the Traverse under my Stratus?

Anyone prefer one over the other?

Anyone own Sitka Mountain and Ascent Pants?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I have been wearing Mountain pants for a little while now, and they are by far my favorite pair of pants. I just recently got a pair of Ascent pants for wearing when its warmer out, and I’m really unsure if there is a need for them. They don’t feel THAT much lighter than the Mountain pants, and I’m curious if I am ever going to wear them more than once or twice a year – and times when my Mountain pants would have worked anyways. Thinking about maybe just returning the Ascents…

Anyone here own both and actually wear them both?

Firstlite or sitka

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So I am thinking about buying a high end "suit" for hunting and am looking for some opinions. This will be for temps from 20-40. I know it’s hard to cover that range in one suit but I am looking for something I can be comfortable in the 40′s or layer up and withstand 20′s. It needs to be quiet, durable, and not bulky if possible. I hunt from tree stands mostly, but normally walk in from 1/2 – 3/4 mile. Im looking at firstlite and Sitka. Also interested in dealers where I can go try on the gear before buying. From what I see on the net I like the looks of how the Sitka fits, but like the idea of wool from firstlite. Opinions?
