What rest should I use? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am ordering a new Triax this week or next. I have only ever used a whisker biscuit on all my past bows. Just trying to get some opinions on what rest I should put on the Triax. I only hunt. I do not do a lot of walking around. Mainly hunt out of a ladder stand, or occasionally a ground blind.

What should rest should I consider, and why?

At 28 inch draw, what length should my arrows be cut at? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Just got a good deal on some arrows online about $ 25 off normal retail and the place will cut the arrows for me before shipping, I am somewhat new to bows, I have a 28 inch draw, I will only be shooting my target in the backyard for practice and hunting, probably not 3D anytime soon. What should I have my arrows cut around to? They said if I don’t tell them they will stay at 29 3/4 which seems kinda long. What is a good all around size?

How often should I be waxing my string?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I shoot compound, and from some people I’ve heard that I should wax it once a month, from others only after every 1,000 shots or so.

What’s a good guideline for how often I should be waxing my bowstring?

When’s the earliest I should plant? Fall clover plot

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I plan on doing a fall clover food plot with a cover crop of buck forage oats. I disked twice already and plan on disking it up one more time to keep the weeds in check. What would be the earliest you think I can put the seeds in the ground? Aug? Sept?

Should I cut my arrows shorter?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So ive been shooting 300 spine GT velocity pro’s at 72lbs and at a 30.5in DL with my arrow cut at 28.7in (carbon to carbon) with 100gr inserts and 150gr tips and they are flying extremely well but i can still cut my arrow’s down another 2 inches so should i do it to stiffen up the spine alittle or should i just leave my arrows alone because im having absolutely no problems with arrow flight.

?hat bow should I get?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Okay, first off, I’m going to hope that I don’t get any distaste or insult anyone based on what I’m trying to explain for what I want to do. This post is inspired by Lars Anderson and I’m not sure how you guys view him.

I’m an absolute beginner. I haven’t shot much. When I was a 14 or 15 years old, my grandfather got us a few bows and we did a little bit of shooting however, we quickly got side tracked and strayed away from it. I’ve got a VERY powerful compound bow that was a gift from a professional archer he was close friends with (he’s since passed on and left me the bows), I’m unsure how many pounds it’s running but the only way I’d consider using it is if I were trying to take down a bear. Things may change though, who knows. And then he bought us a 50 pound recurve bow which is awesome, but damn the things a struggle to pull back. I can shoot it but I want to do some more laid back archery where I can focus on just having fun. I’ll build up to it eventually.

For now I’d like to get something in the 25~30 lb range, give or take a few pounds of course. I don’t want to get a compound, but a recurve or long bow. I was inspired by Lars Anderson’s video and I’d like to eventually get in to speed shooting. But, for now I’m going to start of shooting on the left side and just get down the basics. However, I’d like to buy a bow versatile enough that I wont have to buy another one later on down the road when I wanna shoot from the right side as well. Please don’t try and talk me out of it, it’s something I wanna try. So I want a bow thats around 25 pounds, easy shooting (it could be more), I want the arrow to be able to rest on either side of the bow, and I don’t wanna have to pay too much, I don’t need something that’s gonna last me 10 years. I’ll buy something better if I really get in to it, but for now I want something that’ll last me a few years.

Please give me some sort of recommendation, nothing to expensive. I heard Lars gets custom bows or makes them himself and I’m sure those are quite expensive, I’d like to do that and all but I just don’t have enough experience to know what to make and I don’t wanna pay top dollar for custom work. I’ve already got arrows that I’ll make due with (of various sizes) but eventually I’ll invest in those on my own time. I’ve got a bass pro near me and a few other places I can look around but I’d like to go out and hunt something down that has a decent reputation.

Point me in the right direction, please. 🙂
