I will be shooting a Bowtech Experience set at 60# with 28.5 DL. I am looking to shoot 125g tips with at least a 50 insert. I could go as high as 100g insert. Will a .340 arrow work with that much point weight or should I look into .300 spine arrows?

Alright so my set up is 60lb, 28" dl, and I prefer my arrows cut to 27 1/2 from nock valley to insert. Also I shoot 100gr field points. Really looking to add speed because I will be shooting a 2010 diamond iceman (310-318 ibo). Not really new to bowhunting but this is the start of me getting serious about it so im trying to soak in all of the knowledge I can! Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Arrow Selection Spine Help!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I need some help from you guys a lot smarter than me. I have been shooting gold tip xt hunters in 55/75 and realize that I am probably way underspined at this point (originally was only shooting 60#). I am shooting 29 in, 70#’s at about 270 fps (IBO 310). What spine arrow should I be looking for? I have been shooting 100 gr heads but am wondering if switching to a stiffer shaft throws off my foc? Should I go to 125 gr heads? Thanks for your input!

Arrow selection help

So I’ve been learning traditional shooting for about over a year now with a recurve bow I bought and finally got decent at it. The gentlemen at the archery store hooked me up with what he said were the proper arrows. Well I finally need some new ones (lost a few broke a few) but the store has closed down, and the easton doesn’t make them anymore. What I’m wondering is if I was using the right kind to begin with, and what kind are good to replace them.

The bow is a 55# and 28" draw greattree highlander

and the arrows I used were full length (31′) easton aftermaths 500 spine with 125 grain tips

Thanks for the help

Arrow Selection for Youth Bow

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Greetings everyone!

I come to you for assistance in selecting proper arrows for my son’s PSE Spyder compound bow (acquired second/third hand). I have been looking at various arrow selection charts, and none of them seem to match to our current setup, and I am overall fairly confused.

The bow is currently set to 25# @ 22" (adjustable to 40# @ 25"), and uses the round cams (soft cams?), shooting 125 grain points.

I have looked at Carbon Express, and using the adjusted draw weight worksheet which goes with their arrow selection chart (target), the specified arrow selection identified Predator II PT800 @ 26", but nothing at reduced arrow lengths.

Easton does not indicate any draw weights under 34#, and what it does indicate is for 24" arrows @ 34-38#.

Beman has the ICS Hunter Junior, which is labeled for bows 40# max….

The arrows that were given to us with the bow from the previous owner, are Easton XX75 Advantage 2013 SuperLites @ 23". If I am reading Easton’s arrow chart correctly, this arrow is good for 54-58# @ 23-24", and 49-53# @ 25" (using 125 grain points).

I guess my direct questions would be:

At which point does matching proper spine to the bow matter for shot accuracy? In this specific case, should I be concerned about the arrow being too stiff?

Would I be okay with using arrows like the PT800 or the ICS Hunter Jr., cut to proper draw length?

If the above noted arrows are okay to use, would it be okay to just let him use arrows cut to 25" (as this is the max adjustable draw length for this bow), or would it still be best to use arrows cut to his current draw length?

Thanks in advance for any information you can share!

-Todd

Newbie questions about recurve arrow selection…

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I made my first post in general, then I realized there is not only a traditional forum but also a noob forum. I’d been awake all night trying to wrap my head around gear selection, haha. Anyway I posted this there but didn’t get any help, hopefully I’m in the right spot now.

Initially I was planning on getting any old arrows for this PSE Snake I had ordered, then stumbled upon a thread from here that made me lean forward and choke myself for thinking something so ridiculous. :p

So I did a fair amount of reading, here and on other archery forums. I HAD ordered a PSE Snake 22lb recurve with a dynaflight bowstring, but then I got lost on the arrow shaft selector xpert program so I canceled the order until I could figure out what to submit for a proper MTO order.

I did the wrist-to-shirt-button measurement (right on the dot at 28") and downloaded the shaft selector xpert program, which I have been playing around with for the past hour, check, the past morning, just got in about 3 hrs worth of z’s now back at it lol

Since I have a 28" draw length, what sorts of arrows or (arrow lengths in general) should I be using with this bow? I am prepared to call Lancaster to resubmit my order as soon as I can fully understand what’s going on in terms of the arrow selector program.

I punched in the data for the PSE bow and my draw length, went over to spine selector, but noticed that the field for arrow shaft length is user editable. The program doesn’t recommend arrow lengths based on my draw length?

I am pretty dead-set on aluminum shafts after seeing the terrific injuries some people have done themselves with CF shafts. Since I’m primarily interested in punching holes in paper, should I just stick with the bullet-style tips? Is there only one grain-weight of bullet tip for each arrow shaft size (seems that way on Lancaster)?

I appreciate any advice y’all can give and I plan on picking your brains a lot as I get set up here!
