Bowtech Carbon Icon- riser quiver mount?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Does the Carbon Icon have the ability to accept a treelimb premium quiver riser mount like their alum riser bows? Assuming not, but thought I’d check.

Elite 37 and 39 same riser, different limb geometry?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Ok, Im told the Elite 37 is the Elite Vic 39 with its limbs swept back several more degress to reduce AtA by an inch on both ends….If thats so…..is it just the Limb pocket, meaning components could be obtained and a 37 and 39 could be converted or is the riser angle on the ends of the riser set a steeper angle?

Opinions on best recurve riser under$200

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am wanting to get an oly setup to shoot around with but dont really want to spend more than 250 total. I know i can get decent samick limbs or SF limbs for around 70 and have read enough reviews to know they will be fine for the backyard. I have even read many great reviews of CARSAGE bows which is a cartel triple riser with samick sage limbs. But all the low end risers on Lancaster seem to be available only on Lancaster. I like the lookof the Raven Prestige and the Mybo Rio. I alsolike the NAS nolan or LAS nolan whichever. I was wondering if any of the cheaper riser had tiller adjustments. I read that the Hoyt excel doesn’t snd thoufht if any of the others did that that would be my best option. I am not exactly sure what the adjustment does but figured if one of the chesper brands was one upping Hoyt. That would be who to choose. I really hope to hear everyones opinions.

Hoyt Horizon 25″ riser & Shibuya DX plunger that won’t thread in–need some help

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hey guys, fairly new to archery. For my first riser I chose a Hoyt Horizon from Lancaster Archery with a Sebastian Flute Ultimate Rest. Have been shooting bare-bow and I finally got to the point where I was looking to get a sight and plunger, and so went through Lancaster again and picked up a Shibuya Dual-Click and DX. Now I find this riser doesn’t want to accept the plunger?! I thought this would have been a fairly common setup, but the plunger has trouble starting to thread in and when it finally does, it only goes in a few threads before getting stuck. Is there some sizing issue that I wasn’t aware of? My Hoyt didn’t have anything in the manual about the thread pitch on the two mount holes so I assumed that everything would match right up.

Has anyone else used a Horizon and Shibuya DX together before? Should I contact Hoyt directly or Lancaster next?

EDIT:

I just found a review on Lancaster that I hadn’t caught before I bought it:

Quote:

"Good for the price but …. Review by Edwin

Ordered the Black Out and I’m impressed by the looks. I tried attaching my long
rod after cleaning the stab bushing with compressed air and it would not go in. The start thread just won’t bite bite unless you apply pressure. Once in, it’s very hard to turn. I was afraid it might strip the thread of my long rod so I decided to take it to a nearby archery store where they re-tapped it. Turned out it was not tapped properly. I think it would not cost quality control another minute to make sure all the holes are properly tapped. I know this is not a high end riser but this is where neubies like me start to develop brand loyalty so a little care in inspection will go a long way."

Uh Oh.

New archer, which riser?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am looking to spend no more than $ 300 on my first bow. I want to get into competitions such as Olympic style and bare bow shooting. I originally was interested in a hoyt riser, but after much research I have discovered that thier enters level risers are not the best. A lot of reviews complained about their lack on limb adjustments. I then looked into other risers in the 100-200 price range. I liked the samick avante, the cartel fantom and the sabation flute premium.

Has anyone had experience with these? Which would you suggest? I am looking for something that will last me a few years from beginning to intermediate level.

Riser wood ?’s for bow builders

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am wanting to have a bow made where the riser will in large part be made of Koa. The information I’m finding is not very conclusive as to whether it’s a good choice or not. One source is telling me it’s specific gravity is .55 and it’s too weak to use. However the supplier I would use claims it’s a hardwood with a SG of .67 and I’ve found pics of bows made out of it here and there on the net. Cocobolo or ebony are great choices but if I am having a custom built bow is there something about using Koa that makes it unsuitable for a riser?
