Chinese rage result – first time using #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Shot a down last night at 24 yds. She was slightly quartered to and I put it in there perfect getting a piece of both lungs. She didn’t go far. That’s the good part. The broadhead did its job. But……the head was destroyed. Blades gone, screw gone. Entire head bent. Here is a picture. I know, I know, "the broadhead did its job." Yes it did, but what if I hit a rib next time? Or anything hard? I’m done with these.

Do different tuning methods all lead to the same end result? #archery

Do all the different tuning methods…bareshaft, broadhead, french, walkback, paper tuning, etc. all lead to the same end result?

Some experienced input needed on paper tuning result #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

This is what I started off with:

And this is where I stopped:

I can’t tell if tail is left or if that’s just the paper ripping to make it seem that way.

This is what that same hole looks like with the paper pushed from the back:

To me it looks like the point of entry is pretty close to centered within the vanes. The black marks are residue from the foam target.

I’m going to see if I can get out to do some walk back tuning so I just wanted to make sure it looked solid on paper.

A little Mathews cam experimentation, Result = extra 7 FPS for nothing

>>>——>I have a Mathews Jewel. I have a 25" cam but needed a 25.5" cam (which is on it’s way so this may get even better, but took a while to come across). Anyways, in the meantime I first just wondered about the Z7 cam (because it is way more accessible than a used/cheap Jewel cam). It appeared to be the same profile as the new Z7x cam (which are also very hard to come by used/cheap which is why I went with the Z7 cam). Since this cam comes on the Z7 Extreme (which has the same specs as the Jewel just a longer brace height), I wondered if just getting an inch longer Z7 cam would work because the Extreme gains the extra inch of brace height merely by longer limbs/roller guard.

>>>——>First order of business was to buy a 26.5" Z7 cam which I found in the Classifieds for cheap. Just as predicted, installed the cam and with absolutely no twisting of cable/string the cam was tuned and the draw length came in at 25.5". Now the difference in the draw was slightly different. The Z7 cam has slightly more of a hump/valley and a touch more solid back wall because of this. The bow maintained the same poundage which was nice.

>>>——>After confirming that the Z7 cams and the Jewel cams are interchangeable (so long as you go with an inch longer cam), I took it one step further. The two cams themselves appeared to be the same profile. However I found out that the machined draw stop on the cam is just ever so slightly different and this is what accounts for the longer draw lengths (by difference I am talking about mm in difference). Then I started wondering if I took the module off the Jewel cam and put it on the Z7 cam would that change the feel of the Z7 cam (kinda like putting the module 1/2" shorter than the draw stop on a rotating module bow). I put the 25" module from the Jewel cam on the 26.5" Z7 cam. To be honest with y’all there was no real difference in change between the original Z7 cam and the modified Z7 cam. They felt about the same. Now my bow is only set at 51 pounds so that mey be why I don’t really feel a difference, but their was a noticeable difference in performance which is listed as such:

Bow: Mathews Jewel set @ 51# on 50# limbs (poundage remained the same through cam swaps, Brace Height/ATA are right at advertised specs)
Arrow: Easton Bloodline 480 / Blazers / 4.5" wrap / 125 grain point / 350 grains / 17% FOC
Performance:
-with 25" Jewel cam = 229 FPS
-with 26.5" Z7 cam (measures at 25.5" draw) = 238 FPS
-with 26.5" Z7 cam with 25" Jewel module (still measures at 25.5" draw) = 245 FPS:mg:

*All readings taken from a ProChrono Digital. One additional thing worth mentioning is that a 27" Z7 cam only gave me a 3 FPS increase over the 26.5" Z7 cam.

I can’t wait for the 25.5" Jewel cam to arrive (along with my new JBK strings as I am running factory right now). Things could get very interesting. I know this voids the warranty (so if you’re queasy about that I recommend not trying it), but the way I look at it this is my bow to experiment with if I want to. The only weird thing is my arrows are now hitting about 3 inches low by switching from the Z7 module to the Jewel module, because the bow still tuned with perfect bullet holes off the Biscuit from 3 feet to 20 yards :set1_thinking:. I guess for now the only thing to do is to re-sight it. Just thought I would share.

By the way just in case some of you are wondering about the "Tamper Proof" screws, I picked this kit up for $ 10 at Autozone. They are on sale today $ 5 off (normally $ 15). As you can see they have the Allen tamper proof bits:
