Best Hinge/tension release to start with?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

i am looking to get a hinge release, and want to know what is the best one to get for a newbie. One that works well, and won’t break the bank. I don’t want to spend a great deal until I know it works for me.

Looking for a new release any ideas

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m looking for a new release to try and cure some trigger punching. I currently use a truefire hardcore max and have noticed that I’ve started to punch the trigger alot and anticipate the shot. However, I have tried a BT and still that is the uneasiest of feelings I’ve ever had and do not like that feeling at all. So, I’m looking into getting a new release and something that could help me not punch the trigger so much and have very little muscle movement or just need just a "flick" to fire at the right moment. I don’t know whats out there that would be worth trying. Looking to you all for help.

Thanks

So when do you decide you want try a new sight, release etc?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I just started this hobby or way of life in February and man it’s hard not to want to try new sights or releases. Obviously funds can be a factor but when do you say ok I want to try that style etc.

Do you give 6 months, swap right away or until you mastered it?

Release angle at longer distance

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hi all.

I started using a pull through release last summer – Stan Element – and moved to a the Tru Ball BT Gold late in the winter. Blank baling with both I then moved to targets and achieved a level of accuracy that I had never seen before. I was shooting very well and consistently between 20 and 30 yds. And I mean really well compared to my former scores.

That 40 yard target was calling me again and again, lol, but I held on at 30 max until I was very confident.

My confidence fell through the floor yesterday. Yea, I listened to the siren’s call and warmed up then moved to 40 yds. After a long afternoon, too long of course as my shooting time increases directly with how poorly I’m shooting, which, of course makes me tired and my shots worse, which makes me want to shoot longer to get it right, etc etc etc.

I was all over the place (even before I was tiring out that is). What I had never noticed before with a trigger release, is how much the release angle changes with increased yds as the bow angle changes. My well practiced roll + back tension was compromised. Everything felt wrong.

Any tips for this particular problem? Should I be forcing the release to stay at a parallel to the ground even when raising the angle of the bow?

I’m stumped.

TIA

All blessings

A thumb release cures target panic?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

OK so I’ll admit it…with my wrist release I had developed a case of target panic…I’d like to think it was mild, or really can be called punching the index trigger. Some days were better than others. I heard about people switching to hinged or thumb to try to fix it so I went and bought a thumb release. I shot with the thumb for a good month and was shooting pretty well. I kept the trigger pull heavy to make it more of a back tension release. Probably never really achieved it though. I never felt super comfortable with my draw length/anchor with the thumb but I stopped punching the trigger. I thought this is great I’m a thumb guy now, but due to my DL being a little off with the thumb anchor I was torquing my grip to the left. In order to see if it was the release or the bow set up I switched back to my wrist to see if the grip torque would improve. First shot bullseye, second shot touching…moved back to 30 and 40 yards same thing…holy crap I’m cured…been shooting with my old wrist release for a few days and now better than ever. No more punching the trigger. Just thought I’d share if someone was having trouble trigger punching their wrist release what worked for me. I’m going back to my wrist release but I think I’ll keep training off and on with thumb release just to prevent TP from coming back. Hope that helps someone.

Arrow tail kicks out to the right after release

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hi everyone.

I just become more serious about archery recently and want to become good at it.

But not I had just took a slow motion video of my shots. During shooting before seeing the video. I didn’t see the arrow tail flying right, it might be because My eyes are still on the left hand side of the bow and the arrow tip is going to the direction I am aiming. Below is the slow mo of my shot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo2qfC-X1cQ

I know that my release isn’t ideal, but some of the shot I took the slow motion video was very clean but the tail of this arrow still kick out to the right.

I’ve been looking on why this is happening. There are 2 things in my head which are 1) Spine stiffness and 2) Improper plunger adjustment.

Could anyone give me some advice on how can I solve this problem?

Now I am using 30# bow. Arrow spine 0.680 I’m getting 36-38# very very soon. If it is the problem of the stiffness, It should be solved but if it isn’t about that. Then I need to fix it

Thank you very much for your advices. Cheers.:teeth::thumbs_up:rock:
