Hinge release and back tension issue

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I switched to a longhorn hunter a few months ago after suffering from target panic with my index release. It saved my hobby but I’ve been having some trouble trying to shoot with back tension with it. I know it’s suppose to be seated more in my knuckles however it seems like I can’t get my middle and ring finger around the release to properly shoot with back tension. Usually I just end up squeezing my ring finger to get the shot off. If I try to seat it further in my hand I end up accidentally releasing the shot. I tried playing around with the wrist strap length but that didn’t help. I pull back with my index finger and thumb seated on the post but I feel like it I try pulling back with my middle and ring finger also on the release I’ll set it off. I shoot fine using the method I do but I’d really like to learn back tension properly.

New release now draw length feels too short

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I recently had a Scott Exxus Core fail multiple times during my draw cycle. Since I’m right in the middle of deer season and needed a replacement fast I immediately went to a Carter Plain 1 that my brother had. I was able to practice with it for a week or so and was comfortable enough to hunt with. Now that more time has passed I’m noticing my pin float is fairly jerky which is what I hear is caused by too short of a draw length. When I compare the Exxus Core to the Plain 1 I can see that there is a very slight difference in the length of the jaws. Maybe 1/4" at best. Unfortunately this puts me between modules.

So my question is, what adjustments can easily be made to gain back 1/8" to 1/4" of draw length without swapping modules? And then, what effects will these adjustments have on the bow other than draw length?

Bow is a 14 Obsession Phoenix.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I have been shooting the Spot Hogg Saturday night special for the past couple years without issues.. Just wondering if there is another release (step up) that would fit the hand and anchor point without having to make changes..

What release does Ted Nugent use? I have seen them before but can’t remember the name. I think it’s a caliper style .

Pic. My release design is here

Hello All
The plunger hinge head release came to day.
The tool and die guy done a great job in my humble opinion.
The plunger shaft is now straight with the hole.

He added 2 stronger springs . Added my design pressure plunger end. To adapt to the guide rod and plunger rod. Using nice set screws. Sure must be nice to have the tools and know how. Oh yes I have shot with it all ready. Enjoy [ Later

back tension with a standard trigger release

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am trying to improve my shooting and get over my target panic.

There is so many articles and videos out now covering back tension and target panic, it is hard to get clear information as they all seem a little different. Or have their own idea of how to do things.

I watched one video showing how to shoot back tension with a regular trigger release. He explained that using the tip of your finger to physically pull the trigger is wrong. You are supposed to put your finger over the trigger and hold stationary to allow your back tension to force the trigger to go off. He made it look easy, and looked like it was a great way to shoot.
I can’t seem to get this technique down.

I would rather stick with my trigger release than spend money on a new release.

Any good one stop resources to stick with when learning back tension with a standard release to help get over target panic?

3-Finger or 4-Finger Release

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Just wanted to poll those using hand-held release aids. Do you use a 3-finger or a 4-finger hand-held release and why?

Cheers!

Trigger release form

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hey guys, just wanted to get some input if my form is ok.

I’m using a Trufire hardcore finger release, and recently realized that by putting both my index and middle finger on the trigger and pulling back slowly, I have been more accurate and less likely to punch the trigger than using my index finger alone.
I’m wondering if this is ‘correct’ or a common method, to be using the middle finger as well, as I feel more stable in the shot.

Also, any opinions if I should dabble with a thumb or other release aid as well?

Thanks
