Recurve for Hunting that comes apart in two pieces?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hi all,

I am looking to get my first Recurve bow and start learning instinctive shooting, and eventually hunt with it. I live in NYC so with having to take two buses to get to a bow shop I would love a bow that comes apart length wise into two pieces so it is easy to carry around.

Can someone recommend a bow like that that will serve hunting purposes, will it?
Any drawbacks to this style?
Looking for 45-50 pounds

Thanks

Reducing draw weight on recurve

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I have a bear Kodiak that is 40 yrs old. It pulls 50# at 28. I was wondering if I could short string it to lighten the draw weight. Is this a dumb idea? How much shorter would the string need to be to drop the weight 5#s.

Advice on arrows for 35lb recurve

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I just purchased the Samick Sage 35lb recurve. I am not entirely sure what type of arrows to buy for this bow. Would aluminum or carbon be better? I do like feather fletchings over the veins but I am not sure how long they should be. I was told that I should be using 600 spine arrows. I would like to get decent arrows, but I don’t want to spend over $ 100 for a dozen arrows. Does any one have any suggestions for arrows and where I could possibly buy them online? The store I went to told me I had at 28" draw length. I am still fairly new to archery and I would love to learn as much as I can about it so any help would be much appreciated :D. Thank you.

just got this bow in for a friend of mine and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on its origins. It is a little banged up but looks nice and straight. The name looks like Joe Suire 60"bow 58@28 1983.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone use a stab on their hunting recurve?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Am in need of a short stab on my new 17" hunting riser. Every bow I have ever had (compound or recurve) , the top limb wants to come back toward me at the shot. I like to have enough weight +vibration control in a stab to have the bow sit vertical in my hand. Just curious if anyone uses a stab and what you like. Thanks , GREG BTW I have done searches but all I get are recomendations for long target stabs.

I gotta new recurve! “shoot’in vid!”

Sort of…but…not really…just got bored today and?…

Just to play and see first hand what can be done with "Not Much Bow"?…this is a 56"/15# PSE Optima I bought my middle daughter for Christmas…about 14 years ago…it was covered with dust in a closet and broke my heart to see it that way…so I cleaned it up…waxed the string…screwed on a stab and wrist sling and?…went out back and played…it’s a kiddy bow…but I sure wouldn’t want anybody drawing down on me with it! LOL!

Dunno wether to call myself "Kid Optima" or?…"Willy Shakes"

A late new years eve out and a rockstar sugar free energy drink didn’t help much…diabetes sux. 🙁

But?…had a little fun with this old kids toy today…hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching, Bill. :cool2:

Did Northern Mist used to make recurves? I saw one today at Jay’s in Clare, Mi. It was a really nice one piece 60". He must of them at one point but only longbows on his website.
