Loops on Recurve Bowstring Fraying?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hey all!

I’m new to archery, and in November my fiance bought me a Samick Polaris 29# Take Down Recurve as an early Christmas present. I am in need of some help. I put together and strung the bow for the first time since December and it looks like the larger loop is beginning to fray. It has little string fuzzies all over it so I put wax on it, but it doesn’t seem to really help. This is what gets me, though. I have only shot this bow twice since I got it. We were in a terrible head on collusion the day I was going to go shoot it for the third time so I haven’t used it since then (end of December). I got the limbs and riser looked at and was told that there don’t seem to be any cracks and it was in a case, so I should be all good to go and shoot it.

My question is, should it be fraying like that if I’ve only used it twice? If not, I’m assuming I am going to have to replace the string (or at least try through Samick since I haven’t had it but a few months). If I get an aftermarket string, what do you suggest for a #29 bow? I have absolutely no idea what to buy.

Thanks!

The funny story is this beautiful bow broke one day while i was shooting. It didn’t exactly snap, when i was drawing the bow it just slowly slid out from breaking point. It was a very beautiful bow

I made it in woodshop at high school. The teacher said that this was just going to be the prototype so If it breaks (which it did) we can make another for next year. This time i’ll put fiberglass on the limbs.

If you want to see me shoot this bow follow this link:

Please don’t comment about the sting, I know i need a new string. End of story.
