Any recommendations from the classifieds? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m a leftie and have nearly zero experience; had an Elite about 8 years ago and loved it but needed to sell it when we moved to the city. Since I’m new, I’m not sure what to look for and if buying used online, wouldn’t be able to inspect anyway. Would like to spend around $ 500 or less if possible. If not, I can save up what I need for the right fit/deal.
I’m 5’10", 220lbs and strong enough fwiw.
My only concern with going to a pro shop is them pushing me into something that really is their best profit margin product. But, perhaps I need to so that I can get ‘fitted’ properly?
Sorry in advance for the ‘newb’ questions!

Hang On Recommendations: Millennium, Family Traditions, something else? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Tried searching the forum but couldn’t find anything recent. Looking for some hang on stands to place and leave. I love my climber and am not looking to replace it for mobile options, so I could care less about how much it weighs or how well it packs. The locations I have in mind will likely be spots where I will potentially sit all day so I’m more interested in comfort and quiet than anything else (safety being a given).
I’m a big guy and prefer a roomy platform. The Millennium M50 looks like a possibility and the Family Traditions stands might work also. What others should I be considering?

Paper tuning question. Any recommendations please. Bowtech Tribute #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

2007 Bowtech Tribute.
26.5 draw length
70lbs bow set at 65lbs

The bow is tuned where there are two timing dots showing on the top cam and bottom cam.

So I’m getting Right Tear and I moved the rest away from the risor to correct it but that didn’t help and the rest was too far over. So I centered everything again and this time I switched out the cable slide which pulled the cables tighter to the cable rid and it actually improved the Right tear a little.

Reading a tuning guide it stated something about … move cable guard away from the arrow (increase load on cable guard).

What does this actually mean and how do I make those adjustments.

Are there any cable slides that bring the cables tighter away from the arrow?
Is there anyway to twist cables to make them tighter?

Target bow accessory recommendations for a newbie? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

hi all!

I’m going to be taking the target archery journey with my 9 year old daughter as of this weekend… :)

I’m pretty sure I’m getting her a bow package such as the Diamond Infinite Edge PRO. For myself, I plan on getting a used recent-model target bow…which is usually sold bare. I’m going to test a few bow makes/models out this weekend so see what my exact draw length is going to end up being (I’m 6’4", 75" wingspan) and then will move pretty quickly into a used bow so that we can shoot during my kid’s Summer vacation, at least a few times per week. Once my bow choice is made, I’ll need to get all the accessories to make the bow complete: release, rest, sight, and stabilizers. What’s a solid arrow that also doesn’t break the bank? I know that these items can be a deep (and expensive) rabbit hole but I also recognize that as my bow tastes may change these accessories may also be traveling with me from bow to bow…so I want to buy good reasonably-priced items without breaking the bank and doubling the cost of the bow. I’m currently planning on looking at acquiring one of the following bows: PSE Evolve 35, Hoyt Podium X 40 or Vantage, Fanatic, or maybe a Halon X…something with a 35+" ATA, for sure.

What are your favorite picks for these items for target/3D shooting? Assume I don’t have an AmEx Black card lol ;)

Youth bow recommendations

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Looking for a youth bow for my 5 year old. We would prefer something that can go down to approximately 20lbs draw weight and up to Atleast 40 lbs draw weight. A large draw length adjustment so the bow can grow with him would also be nice.

In need of recurve recommendations

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and new to archery. A friend recently introduced my boyfriend and myself to archery.

It is something I have been interested in doing for a very long time. And archery will allow us to shoot in many more places than we can go to shoot guns and therefore more often since we wont have to drive so far out of the way. It will also allow us to go shooting when ammo is expensive or difficult to find.

When the three of us went to the archery range, my boyfriend was able to use a borrowed compound bow. I enjoyed watching and took some pictures, but I was unable to draw either of the bows (both were compound bows, I was able to draw the 30# once with my left, and using a tab, but wasn’t able to draw it after that). So, I have not yet been able to shoot a bow and we do not have a shop around to allow me to try them out. I will be buying online and I am looking for recommendations. (the more details, the better)

I hope this gives a good idea of what I am looking for:

I prefer the look and feel of a recurve bow over a compound, I just don’t really like the mechanical feel and I don’t feel that I need the additional power of a compound since I am not interested in hunting, I just want to have fun with this.

I am right-handed and strongly left-eye dominant. I want a left-handed or ambidextrous bow as I would prefer to keep both eyes open when shooting. I like the idea of instinctive shooting and this is how I get my best shots when shooting guns (but that may be due to only recently finding out about my eye dominance). I have no interest in using sights on a bow, and again, I do not like the mechanical feel of all the extra stuff on bow. I would also like to shoot off the shelf.

I am a small-frame woman with little upper-body strength and I will be starting with a very low draw weight. Only 20#, this may or may not increase by the time I buy my first bow (I want one as soon as possible, but I am still doing my research). I am going to the gym regularly and have added rows to my routine, but I am only rowing 15 lbs. right now. I’d like to get a take-down recurve so that I can just buy new limbs for the riser. I also have a short draw length (about 25").

I was seriously considering buying the Samick Sage 62" Takedown Recurve, but I think that I would like a shorter, lighter bow better (someone said this one is about 3.5# and it’s been recommended I should get something 3# or lighter).
