Fall food plot questions. #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey all, I have been wanting to put a fall food plot in on my families land for a couple of years now and finally I think this year is the year. I have went ahead and killed all the weeds and am going to disk it. Couple questions for you guys, what mixes are you all using? I was planning on using turnips and possibly clover, the area I’m going to be planting is right under an acre. Also what fertilizer do you all reccomend since the land hasn’t been farmed in a long time. Thanks for the help!

I have posted in here several times about this and am finally getting pigs in consistently, but heres the question: I am only getting boars. I have yet to see any sows or piglets. Is there a reason for this? I know having only boars may seem like a positive, but I just expected to see some sows. Originally I thought i was seeing the same pig over and over but the one from today is much much bigger than the others i’m seeing. I also cant pattern them. It will normally come in for three days or so, and then disappear for a week.

Anybody have any suggestions for why this is happening? Gonna toss in some pics of the pigs…. and also a spot they tore up over the course of three nights…
which makes me think there are sows/ piglets close. Thanks for the help.

Moving to a thumb release. Questions. #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I just picked up a thumb release and was playing with it today after many years of shooting a wrist strap. The first couple shots were scary, but I’m starting to get the hang of it after a dozen shots. Point of impact is the same which is good. I’d like to do it right and start off that way so I don’t get in any bad habits I need to break so I have a few questions.

I feel like I need a deliberate action with my thumb to get a release. Should I be pulling through the shot with my ring and middle finger to put pressure on my thumb?

I feel like the draw is shorter and am having to lean into the string. To get the anchor I feel is right, I’m having to bend my elbow more. The release has a pretty short neck. Is it common to move to a longer draw length?

Is there an anchor I should be aiming for? What feels the most natural is my index knuckle on the back of my jaw bone and my middle finger knuckle on my ear lobe.

Thanks for any input.

Diamond sharpening stones questions #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey fellas,

I have a wide variety of different broadheads. Some expandable and other that are fixed blade. I have a bunch of VPA 3 blade 100 grain broadheads. I have 3 Arkansas stones (coarse, medium and fine) as well as a leather strop and a jewel stick.

I just cannot get these VPA 3 blade BH’s super sharp. I was going to try using diamond sharpening stones. Are all diamond stones similar or are there certain brands that are better than others ?

Thanks for any helpful tips!

Lighted nock questions

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve been thinking about using lighted nocks this year, but I have a couple questions for those that do. Do y’all practice with them and run the risk of busting them or just pit them in to hunt with? How much if any do they change poi if already sighted in with reg nocks and are they all about the same?

.204 ignitor half out insert questions?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey fellas,

I just recently bought my first dozen Easton FMJ arrow blanks. They have the HIT inserts, Easton RPS field points, and have been fletched with 2" Blazers.

I bought two 6 packs of the Ignitor brand lighted nocks.
The instructions are vague about "bonding" the half out inserts in the arrow. What type of "bonding" material works best for these Ignitor lighted nocks in FMJ arrows?

Thanks

2 quick turkey questions

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Do you remove guts in the field, or at home, if it’s going to be a few hours before getting home?

Do you put some kind of strap around the legs for a long walk out, or is it easy enough just holding the feet?

Thanks in advance.
