Tommy Hogg question

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I know it’s probably been asked a million times but I can’t find the answer. I just started archery for the first time is about 20 years. I just bought a halon 6. I bought a 3 pin tommy Hogg for it. But the directions aren’t very clear. When sighting it in should I start with the bottom pin? I want to set it to 20-30-40 with the bottom pin being my adjustable pin. So do I shoot the bottom pin at 20/60; then set the dial to 40 according to the tape? Or do I dial in the 20 and 30; then shoot from 40/80?

Bino’s Question

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m looking at upgrading my Bino’s (terrible pair now) and they are 10×42’s. Not clear, and hard to keep in focus.

ANYWAY,

Looking to upgrade without breaking the bank (no HD’s for me). I’m really leaning toward Vortex or Nikon (trying to stay under 200).

I’ve been watching the classifieds and the deals posts and have found some. But my question is should I go with 10×42’s or 10×50’s?

I do Midwest hunting (WI, KS, MO, IL) so don’t need super powerful ones (not doing all day glassing or anything). Will use them for 3d shooting (nothing serious though).

10×42’s do seem the most popular but question if stepping up to the 10×50’s will be beneficial to really get a good look at that buck across a 200 or 300 yard field from time to time. Any draw back of going to the 10×50’s (other than hard to find a good price on them)?

Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Spine question

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am currently shooting Easton axis 340’s with 100 gr heads cut to 26 3/4" at 70# from my 2013 elite hunter at 27" draw. My question is this. I wanna drop back to 60-65# for indoor spots league this winter. Gonna be shooting fat boys, x-cutters or something similar. I wanna jump to 150gr tips with these arrows. With the increase in point weight and drop in draw weight will I still be good for a 340 spine? Or?

Question for you Swarovski guys

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Specifically the El series 10×42. Is the new model worth an extra $ 350? It looks like the only difference is the harness quick detach/attachments, locking diopter. Anything else I’m missing? It’s a $ 350 difference between the 2 both brand new ones just the older clearance model. What you say?

Question about paper tuning.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I tried to tune my bow the other day. I kept getting a tear I couldn’t fix. However if I turn the nock the tear turns with it. Does that mean my arrow is no good?
I have a bear arena 34. Timing is set perfect. I fixed the cam lean to the best of my ability. Arrow I was trying to tune are cheapo blackout x5 shaft. They are bass pro brand made by goldtip.
