HELP with North Carliona turkey hunting #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

turkey population is at a steady decline in NY for the last 10 years. I been thinking of heading to North Carolina for a week hunt.
I been looking into the Pisgah national forest, it looks like its steep, But i am open for any suggestions

I will be towing a small camper to shack up it, so a free camp site would Be a plus .
Should i be looking at game lands also? private land?
How much pressure does north Carolina see?

You welcome to seed me a private message if you can help with any info.

I am hunting in north central arkansas this year and was curious to how old everyone thinks this buck is. He’s the biggest bodied deer on the property I have pictures of so far. Just wanting to take the oldest most mature deer first. Thanks

North Texas or Oklahoma hog hunt.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am looking for a bit of a last minute hunt for my wife and I. We have all the week days in March available and looking for an outfitter or just a regular hunter who has an abundance of hogs. Willing to pay for access or per hog. Preferably have feeders set up and hogs coming during daylight hours. We are excellent hunters and would like a more fair chase hunt then a high fence operation.

A couple of nice North Carolina bucks

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I’m on vacation out here on Bald Head Island, NC, and look out the back window the other night and there are 3 bucks feeding in the back yard.
Two of them were pretty nice so I grabbed the camera and got a few pics.
May have to schedule the vacation a little later next year and bring the bow

New guy here from North East TX. First post and a few questions.

Fellow traditionalists,

I shoot a fast compound crossbow that i really enjoy. Funny thing is, when it comes to vertical bows i find myself wanting to get "back to the basics". In fact, ive never understood why laminated and composite pressed wood bows are referred to as traditional, last time i checked the ancient ones defended their lands and hunted with bows that were built from solid wood, and that is what i hope to build. I have already built a few novice traditional bows, but have recently decided to get more serious about it and consult with others who seek to keep the old ways alive. Now onto some questions that i have…

Ive read that the two best woods are Osage Orange and Yew. But that other woods are "suitable" and that the important part is "in the build". Well a recepie is only as good as its ingredients and considering that these bows require precious hours of time invested, my question becomes is there any reason to start with anything other than the 2 previously stated woods?

So far ive only made "stick bows"..or bows from a tree that was 2-3". Is this way better, or is using a big tree and then splitting into multiple "staves" better? How did the natives do it?

Now for more specific questions, can anyone help me identify these trees and if they are any good for bow building…

The first two pics are from a tree that i made a decent stick bow out of, this wood seems to flex very nicely and is not "gummy" like some i have tried…there are a ton of these around here ranging from 1"-2ft thick. Would this be a quality wood to try something bigger with?

The third and fourth pics are from a tree ~5" at the base…its the first ive ever cut with plans of cutting into multiple staves and i dont want to waste time with something that will not yield a quality end product.

The last 2 pics are from a strange thorny tree that stood out amongst all the others. It is also about 5" thick at the base. Dont know why, but it was calling me.

I look forward to becoming a regular here and thanks for any advice!
