Some experienced input needed on paper tuning result #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

This is what I started off with:

And this is where I stopped:

I can’t tell if tail is left or if that’s just the paper ripping to make it seem that way.

This is what that same hole looks like with the paper pushed from the back:

To me it looks like the point of entry is pretty close to centered within the vanes. The black marks are residue from the foam target.

I’m going to see if I can get out to do some walk back tuning so I just wanted to make sure it looked solid on paper.

Custom string maker needed :)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Please recommend a reliable string maker here who can make a very high quality string + cable for a Diamond Core, and who is willing to ship with UPS to Mexico, where I am currently based. For some ridiculous reason 60X flatly refused to ship to Mexico, and I want to try something different than WC who I usually use for my other bows.

Clothing Help Needed

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m getting back into hunting after a break of a few years and need to overhaul my clothing. My cold weather clothing makes me look like the marshmallow man and makes it very difficult to draw a bow. I’ve searched and read quite a bit over the last few days but still don’t know what to do and would appreciate your suggestions. I live in Oklahoma where early archery season is usually 30-70° and late season can get as low as 10°. I would say average late season lows are upper 20′s to low 30′s. We get a good amount of wind. I mostly hunt from the ground but enjoy still hunting when it’s raining or windy enough to hide my noise.

As of now the only current clothing I plan on keeping long term is an ASAT Leafy Suit. I love this suit and plan on using it most of the time. I plan on purchasing First Lite Allegheny bottoms and a Llano top, Smartwool socks and a liner. The local Cabela’s recommended the Cabela’s Lookout Fleece pants and jacket with a Cabela’s Instinct Backcountry Hybrid Vest for cold weather layering. I love the low bulk but am concerned if this is warm enough, will it block enough wind and what about rain? I see quite a few recommendations on AT for fleece and wool, do you just carry rain gear every outing in case it’s needed?

I’m looking for low bulk, quality items that will last without spending more than is necessary. I also would prefer to purchase as few pieces as possible, I’m not into having a closet full of hunting clothes with the perfect outfit for every possible scenario. This is long for a first post but I figured more information was better than not enough. Thank you for your suggestions.

Feedback needed!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Ok my oldest son is now 14 years old, 6’1” about 240lbs. Yeh he is a big boy. So he has grown enough now to shoot my Bowtech Tribute. So either I need to buy him a new bow or let him have mine and get me a new one. Needless to say I will be getting me a new one.

I have always shot the James Greene Gator Jaws release but when I get my new bow I plan on switching to a d loop style release. I have narrowed it down to a hook wrist strap release like the TF Hardcore or a thumb style release.

Questions:
1) I was just curious if either one of those change draw length or just anchoring points. Going to be a big change so it might take me a while to get used to it.

2) Is there an advantage of using one over the other? I see a lot of people using the thumb releases.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Help needed with older compoound bow comparison.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I bought a 2011 PSE Moneymaker X dual cam for basically nothing . It had been old stock sitting in a store that had closed down, but under further inspection, the bow had been fiddled with. (no stoppers)

Im a 31" draw length and in current form, the MM is sitting on 29max. I don’t have the additional modules to increase it to 31, although I know they are available.

My local bow tech dude has a 2013 Hoyt Contender(not sure if its the elite) available, setup and in my size. Its about double the price I paid for the Moneymaker, but its perfectly setup and just needs the bolt-ons. He is suggesting that I sell the Moneymaker and rather look at the Contender .

Reading up on the web, I’ve gathered that the Moneymaker is a decent bow for a newbie. I’ve gotten it for a good price so im happy with that. If I get the modules sorted, it restrung I could sit with a fairly decent bow for under 300bucks.

My question to you guys.

Do I spend the extra money on the Moneymaker (paid 200) or do I just go with the Hoyt Contender(wants 450/500)

Cheers

Predator Camo – Opinions Needed

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am looking at upgrading some old camo I have had for years. After some searches on here and the positive feedback, I am leaning towards the predator camo line. I will be mainly hunting pine plantations with a few cutovers, and some hardwood bottoms. Leaning towards either brown deception or 3d deception. Which pattern would you recomend?

Any durability issues?
