Carbon Xpress Blu RZ build, need help #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Shooting either a Mathews Vertix or PSE Evoke 31 at 74-75 pound draw weight, 29 draw length.

Arrows cut 29" carbon to carbon
Fletching Q2i Fusion II high profile (.55) three vane config
Firenock lighted nocks (approximately 22 grains total weight)

Thinking about putting a 100 grain brass insert up front, and running 100 grain broadheads.

Arrow weight cut to 29" is 245.05
Fletching weight approx 22 grains (with glue)
Firenocks 22 grains complete

So 289.05 prior to insert install. Add 100 grains for the brass insert and you are at 389.05 with killer FOC.

Run a 100 grain head up front and you are at 489.05

My question is, will the 350 spine be adequate for this amount of weight up front?

And what is the best arrow build calculator for iPhone in your opinion? I do way to many builds not to go ahead and get the best calculator out there.

I killed this elk in September, in Wyoming. Left it with taxidermist that outfitter recommended. I have used the taxidermist before with no issues. Well I wanted this elk scored for Pope and Young, called and talked to them many times in regards to making sure it got scored. After not hearing from them after the drying period I called again, they said scorer was backed up and he would get to it. Well I get an email this week stating the antlers were cut off before it was scored. The did score it for SCI and it was 280 and 4/8. I realize there are deductions for pope and young but I also think there is also another spread measurement for pope and young. To try and appease me he took antlers to the scorer and and the score measured the antlers and came up with 252 even. 8 points shy. That’s over 22 points in deductions from just the SCI score not including the other spread measurement. I don’t want to get into whether or not an animal should be entered? Just wanting some opinions on which direction to turn? Thanks

Picking Out a Set of Binoculars – Need Expert Advice #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I have decided to treat myself to a quality pair of Binoculars for Christmas. I primarily hunt West Illinois where we spend quite a bit of time glassing field edges in the evenings scouting before season. I currently have a cheap pair of Vortex Vanquish 8×26 binoculars that have served their purpose, but I want some improvement.

I have always been a Leupold scope guy, but not sure the quality of their binoculars. I am looking to spend $ 200 to $ 600. Does anybody have some recommendations in this price range? I am also open to buy a used pair in this price range if their is a model I should be looking out for.

Any advice?

The Elk need your support in Steamboat Colorado #archery

Elk hunters the Elk need your support,

The Elk in and around Steamboat Springs Co. are in desperate need of your support! We have a City-funded trail network going through the NEPA process that will completely decimate our herds over a vast area of public National Forest Land. At this moment the trail building community is getting a couple letters a day into the Forest service in support of this trail network. I know as hunters we like to stay quiet and mostly solitary but we NEED to get loud and join forces if we expect to keep the hunt and our hunting lifestyle alive into the future.

We have already seen the elk population plummet on Buff Pass because of the trail network that went in last summer. This next Madd-Rabbit trail network is massive and extremely damaging to Elk Habitat.

Visit www.KeepRouttWild.com for details about our desperate fight to save the herds.

Here is a link to the Madd-Rabbit proposal

This is a link to the trail system they have approval for and almost complete. We are witnessing a huge impact already from these.

Please write an email to the below addresses. Or send it to KeepRouttWild@gmail.com and I will forward it to the decision makers involved.

Bullet points to hit.

1. We value our wildlife and undisturbed habitat over new trails.
2. The elk population surrounding Steamboat plummetted because of the Buff Pass trail network and new trails must stop immediately before all the huntable populations are gone forever.

Also, visit https://www.keeprouttwild.com/take-action/ to see our mission statement.

Need help finding new safety harness #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am looking for a new safety harness that is not bulky in the shoulder straps. I have a HSS ultra lite now that I like but it has too much bulk in the shoulder straps. When rifle season rolls around I can not comfortably seat my rifle on my shoulder with the harness on and I would like to minimize bulk with the bow too. What harness should I look for?

I have a Bear Approach single cam. My last bow was an older PSE compound bow I got from my grandpa. My local pro shop set it up for me and I shot extremely well with it. Always had pretty tight groups out to even 40-50 yards. Robin hooded a few arrows with it even. So I know I can shoot decently accurate. However I recently got this bear, and took it in to have it set up. The pro shop recently changed staffing and this particular employee didn’t pay nearly as much attention to my bow as the previous one, he kind of threw it all together and sent me on my way. I have spent the last 3 weeks having a terrible time with this bow. I cannot get it sighted in properly, cannot get it to group well or consistent at all. I have tried adjusting everything and fine tuning it all as much as possible but I cannot get this thing to shoot consistent, can’t even get it on a bullseye hardly at 20 yards. And if I do, the next shot will be way off. The bow came set up at a 29 inch draw which is the same I was measured for and it is at around 62 Lbs which is comfortable for me. Previously I had a kisser button but on the new bow I do not. I do not feel like taking it into this shop will fix the problem and there isn’t another near by. Any idea what the problem could be? Draw length too long, incorrect arrows? I am shooting the carbon express wolverine(?) 350 that is 30 inches long with 100 grain tips. Too all my knowledge this thing should be perfect. I need ideas on what to try next. Bow season is coming and I am not at all confident in taking a shot at a deer with this bow. I had 100% confidence with my PSE which is now long gone.
