HIT Insert Making Shaft Weak #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Like the title says I’ve noticed that the HIT insert system makes the tip demolish the shaft in front of the insert with even some of the smallest blows. I was wondering what you guys have done to remedy this if anything at all. I really just can’t imagine these arrows should be breaking off so easy just from hitting the dirt, not even something like a rock. All tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Making an 80# Halon & what arrows

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I just bought a Halon 6 yesterday, my main reservation was that it didn’t come in 80 lbs.(Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes.)
I also bought a dozen Gold Tip Hunter XT 340′s. I’ve got a 28.5" draw, wondering if these arrows will suffice on an 80 lb set up.
Also wondering for those of you who have put Wake limbs on a Halon, how’s everything holding up by now? Any regrets?

Hoyt vector making noise at first draw

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hello, my vector makes a weird sound when I first draw it. Sounds like something sticking like the string in the cam channels. Anyone else ever had this and how do you fix it. This is my second bow that has done this.

Making My 3D Arrow Better

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

So, after a little help from nuts&bolts, going to shorten up my DL to 28". Currently shooting ST X-Cutters cut to 27" on the carbon, 90gr GT point with 10gr insert weight, GT pin bushing with GT standard pin nocks, and Blazers. Bow is currently set to 28.76" and 56.67#. Planning on cutting my X-Cutters down to about 26.25" on the carbon, put the point about 1/2" in front of the rest. Considering adding 20gr to the point, going to AAE Pro Max vanes, GT HD pin nocks, and upping my DW to 60#. Will this be a pretty good 3D set up? Would I be better off going with the nock bushing for the .246 nocks? Anything I could do better?

Anyone have BLACKTAIL DEER height/shoulder measurements? I’m making some targets

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m making some silhouette targets and am hoping to find a couple of real world measurements on BLACKTAILS.

I’ve got lots of sideview photos to scale up, just wondering how big to go!

I know they differ a lot, just looking for numbers that others have gotten.

I’ve never measured anything except how much meat went to the freezer.

Anyways- hoping someone has some measurements or knows where to find some online.

Really interested in height at top of back over the kill zone, and the belly off the ground height right below kill zone. Things that would be appreciated while making targets.

Maybe someone has access to a full standing taxidermy specimen and has a couple of minutes to measure?

Waiting until next season just wont do for me… That and I’d be measuring the smallest buck in the woods :)

Thanks!

About to pull my hair out making strings

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Can use a little help here fellas. For some reason lately I have been getting "flag" rotation after serving when raising and lowering tension from 0-300 pounds. My layout is fine and shows 0 twist after twisting and stretching so I know its from serving. Today I served a 20" end serving and my flag twists 1/2 turn when adjusting tension. I have tried anywhere from 8 pounds to 3 pounds of serving jig tension (checked on hanging scale) and still get rotation. I also know I am serving the correct direction. This is becoming very frustrating.

bow making. help with a little Q&A

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

i have yet to design any templates for the bow i wish to make
and please excuse me if this is the wrong forum for this. i did look down the mains but not the subs

i have a few questions i would like to ask before i start building
and as far as advice goes, though i would be absolutely to recieve it. i know the internet can be fickle, please be kind?

i would like to make a bow but my google fu has turned up little on the mechanics i need to really worry about here

———- the main event ————

first off. compound bows vs. "normal" bows

1. if i had a compound bow and a normal (non recurve) bow, which limbs (assuming same length and thickness) which would flex more and which would give a longer draw length

2. assuming i had a design for a regular bow, that could easily be converted to that of a compound, would the addition of cams and a different system of string apply more stress to the limbs upon draw and/or release

3. assuming the answer to 2 is yes. to what degree is the extra force, are we talking tens, hundreds, or thousands of pounds. a rough approximate is fine.

4. limb material. as far as it goes i have more then a few ideas of what would work. as it stands weight is a concern. but i would wonder about the properties of spring steel. mainly the effect it would have on archery. if there weight of the limb would have any effect on the speed of the bow, or if it would be better to go the rout of Ti or a Ti alloy (Assuming i go metal and not another piece)

5. as far as the cam goes i am confidant i could build one strong enough to withstand most loads. assuming i build a compound bow. BUT i would like to understand the loads the cam and limbs are under. in greater detail if any one is familliar with this sort of thing

6. thanks to anyone who gives any answer and double to any who shed light on the information i will need. give yourselfs a pat on the back for me would ya?
