I’m looking forward to these 3 new crossbows.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Not sure which one that I will get yet,but I really like these 3 new crossbows:
Tenpoint Shadow Ultra lite,$ 1000.00 with acudraw 50
Mission Dagger, i’m hearing around $ 700 bare bow.
Native Rampage, $ 799 with Hawke MAP scope or you can upgrade to a different Hawke scope.

The length, width, weight and speeds are very close. Hopefully I can handle all three of them to make up my mind. What one are you guy’s wanting to get?

Looking for a stubby traditional

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey all. First time post, but been lurking a while.

I have a wonderful wife who doesn’t mind in the least me turning the basement into a range. (YAY!) The issue I do have is I gotta get something that doesn’t scrape the floor joists. I’ve been looking at older bear kodiacs and clones. My other issue is that this is my entry into the sport and I can’t command a brandy-new (I.e. Expensive) new toy. What is the shortest entry level riser/limb combo I could expect to see?

I looked up the pros and cons of short risers, and free heated practice area pretty much out weigh any cons.

I’m not set on riser/limb combos. If an affordable one piece/classic/wood bow became available it’s just as great.

Anyone have any pointers or ideas? I’m not above buying a teenbow and overdrawing it, nor is poundage very important. it is purely paper punching for me.

Thanks everyone!

Looking for my first recurve (any help appreciated)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

First off, I am new to AT and new to archery. I have always been interested in archery since I was little, I remember shooting a bow when I was younger at my brothers Boy Scout camp and having a great time, then the years passed and now I am in college and finally was just this last semester, able to get into an archery p.e. class (I’m loving it just as much, if not more then when i was younger). The semester is going to be ending in two weeks, and therefore my ability to practice will be too so I am looking at getting my own bow. I know that the bow I shoot with at school is a solid piece of wood, recurve, 62" with a 23lb draw. My teacher picks out the bows for us individually so I am assuming she thought this was the best choice. I don’t know what information would be needed to correctly determine what bow would be best for someone so I will list the information I think might be necessary and hopefully someone can fill me in on what would be best.

I will only be using this bow for shooting targets. I am a woman, right handed, 20 years old, 5’8, and I weigh 140lb. The 23lb I shoot with currently, feels good although it is on the lighter end so I would probably go for a 30lb draw. I work at Scottish Games and would most likely be bringing my bow with me to these games as part of my outfit (these games aren’t Ren Fairs but traditional Scottish attire is worn) so I would like for the bow to look more traditional (the less high tech gadgety stuff the better) but since I don’t do reenactment it would not need to be historically accurate. I would prefer it to not have a company name plastered all over it if at all possible though. Also, Im not sure if this would help but my teacher told us when choosing the arrows we were going to be shooting with, to take the arrow and put the tip of it to your chest and reach your arms outwards as if you were trying to touch the veins on the arrow, she said if your fingertips are close to touching the veins then that is length of arrow you will be shooting with, if your fingers go past the veins then the arrows are too short. I apparently have longer arms and wound up using the longer arrows that were available. (I know this is vague but Im trying to think of anything I can that might help). My price cap for this would be about $ 200 (which I know will narrow down my choices but I don’t see a point in spending more money on this when I am this new to archery). Also I am looking to buy my bow online because there is only one local shop that carries archery equipment but the staff there are only helpful if you are a man and a hunter or if you are there to spend a large amount of money on their fancy compound bows.

That’s all the info I can think of, any help would be greatly appreciated and let me know if there is any other info I can provide to help me narrow down my options.

Looking forward to getting the chat back

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I don’t post a lot on the forum but look forward to chatting. It’s been a few weeks since it disappeared. I have made many acquaintances on there, talked to some of the best archers in the world in the chat room and went to several national events as well as some great hunts thanks to the chat . It really sucks not being able to BS in realtime.

Looking at PSE target bows, need some help

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I’ve been looking at pse targets and would like to know if anyone has tested both the Supra max and the Phenom.

The phenom is 1.25" shorter but has the same brace of 7". Is it really worth the extra $ 200 for the supra. I like the look of the phenom more but will it be a decent target bow?

SAS

Looking for help w/ Beginner TD Bow…

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So,

I’ll fully admit I’m a FNG when it comes to Archery. I’m interested in recurves, want to do target shooting (not hunting) – maybe some day get into some competition if I’m able to make that transition, and I’m having some problems finding a good starter bow.

I was looking at a Ragrim Impala takedown for me, and not really sure if it’s a good beginner recurve or not.

Based on my height, @ 6’4" I’ll need a 30.5" Draw length(ish), so I’m looking @ a 70" bow? and given my weight (250 lbs), most charts say 50# draw should be my ultimate goal… but given I’m doing only target and not hunting that may be overkill. Plus being new, I know you should start lighter and work your way up, so should I be starting more in the 30-35# range?

/confoozled for sure.

Price-wise it looks like a good entry level bow for someone who’s still going to be working on the fundamentals, but I also am constantly aware of the old adage ‘you get what you pay for’.

And when I see reviews like this:

This bow is dangerous. After shooting less than 400 arrows the riser on this bow snapped at full draw. I am lucky to be all right, all I got was a sprained thumb and a whack to the face. I only have the #50 bow not the #60 which is offered. I kept the bow in extremely good condition and I never kept it strung. I only have a 28" draw so the bow was not over strained. DO NOT BUY THIS BOW.

I get a bit more concerned. Admittedly it’s just 1 review, so one can’t set a whole lot of stock to it, but I’d appreciate any help from the community that’s more familiar with Ragim and this bow, or if someone has a better choice/selection/suggestion, I’m all ears.

Thanks in advance!
