Longer ATA vs shorter #archery

Will a 34 inch bow be more consistent to shoot than my Carbon Spyder 30? Having trouble with finding a good anchor with my thumb release.

Need help with arrows. Longer draw length #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Just picked up a PSE Phenom XT about a month ago and I’m looking to get more arrows. Currently I’m only target shooting but eventually building up to hunting deer/turkey. I’m looking to get more arrows but not sure what to get. I’m shooting 70# at 31.5” (yes I’m tall) draw so I’m not sure what arrows to use with that setup. The arrows I’m using now are cut at 31”. I was looking at the draw length/arrow length/# chart for some arrows but none of them fit by setup.

I appreciate any help.

Release angle at longer distance

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hi all.

I started using a pull through release last summer – Stan Element – and moved to a the Tru Ball BT Gold late in the winter. Blank baling with both I then moved to targets and achieved a level of accuracy that I had never seen before. I was shooting very well and consistently between 20 and 30 yds. And I mean really well compared to my former scores.

That 40 yard target was calling me again and again, lol, but I held on at 30 max until I was very confident.

My confidence fell through the floor yesterday. Yea, I listened to the siren’s call and warmed up then moved to 40 yds. After a long afternoon, too long of course as my shooting time increases directly with how poorly I’m shooting, which, of course makes me tired and my shots worse, which makes me want to shoot longer to get it right, etc etc etc.

I was all over the place (even before I was tiring out that is). What I had never noticed before with a trigger release, is how much the release angle changes with increased yds as the bow angle changes. My well practiced roll + back tension was compromised. Everything felt wrong.

Any tips for this particular problem? Should I be forcing the release to stay at a parallel to the ground even when raising the angle of the bow?

I’m stumped.

TIA

All blessings

Longer ata bow

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I currently have a 31.5 ata bow and was thinking a longer bow around 33-35 would help accuracy and just be more comfortable. I’ve only been shooting for a month or two so I’m still learning. I’m also around 6’2 that’s why I thought longer would be better. Would there be any disadvantages with extra inches while hunting? Thanks

no longer a woody virgin

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

For Christmas my wife ordered me a set of Fox Archery wood arrows (made by Paul Jalon in Michigan) made to Ron King’s best guess at what would work for my draw weight and length for my Fox Triple Crown. I was actually on my way to the range today when the mailman pulled up with them! I started out on a metal hoyt riser and when I got a chance to try a longbow I really liked it. Now shooting the Fox but have always used carbon and aluminum out of just being leery of wood and that whole debate. Well folks gotta tell ya, I love ‘em! Just takes the whole one solid piece of wood throwing another something to another level, in this case- more wood! What beautiful arrows too! Paul Jalon puts an absolute PERFECT finish on these arrows and none of my aluminums are straighter, at least for now:) The way they feel when I shoot, well, I’m hooked!!!
