Recurve limb protector?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I just bought my first trad bow, its a bear kodiak magnum, got it off the EE here http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2060782 .

Anyway I’ve been reading and studying everything I can about trad archery, and fortunately my brother got rid of his training wheels quite a while ago so he’s been a valuable resource.

I have a question regarding limb protection on a recurve, by that I mean the area where the string makes contact with the limb. I understand its not necessary by any means, but I want to take care of my bow to the best of my ability, plus as I understand it, it can quiet things down a little.

So anyway my question is what do I use? Do they sell something particularly for this purpose? How do I attach it? I’d rather not use glue, or at least a strong glue as I don’t want to damage the finish at all. Any input would be great, thanks!

Padding Limb Pockets?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I have a little click on the shot of my ILF (Sky TDX 17) that I believe is coming from the limb pockets. When shot the limb pulls away from the riser just a bit then makes a click when they recover. I have tried fabric backed tape in the limb pocket – worked pretty well when new but compacts and then does not work. Tried a rubber bicycle inner tube – works ok. Tried Velcro, works about the best, but is pretty bulky and Fuzzy Stuff which I have on there now (stuck to the limbs) along with the inner tube stuck to the riser. Still no magic setup, so I guess the question is – what material works best for a buffer between the limbs and riser? Thanks.

2006 Bowtech Allegiance Limb Swap question

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am swapping out 70lb limbs for 60lbs (both are dated 2006). All is good so far but I didn’t notice the shims that were in the limb pockets until I had pulled both limbs off and I am not exactly sure which way they are supposed to sit and the position inside the pocket. They are flat on one side and rounded on the other.

Does the rounded side face the limb or the riser?
How far down/in the pocket should they be positioned?

Thanks for any info!

Take Care

Question on Limb Markings for Ragim Bow

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

My son recently purchased a Ragim Wildcat bow. When I asked him what the length was he texted me the attached picture. So how exactly does one interpret those markings? Is this a 62" bow or a 66" bow?

Thanks!

(I’m a big time newbie to archery – sorry!)

Vapertrail limb driver rest…video ad, bad business

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I was reading some of the AT members comments on the new limb driver rest and saw commercial on TV so I decided to check out their website.
Do me a favor, at the end of the video, pause it when the arrow fletchings are at the rest….WOW! No wonder the arrow is bouncing all around and not on a good flight path. And even if you want to argue that it wouldn’t affect the path in that short amount of time, then I would say who knows what the condition of the shaft is if the fletching looks like that. That just seems shady to me…can’t always trust marketing. Just remember, they are trying to make money….that’s it.

Limb Weight VS Riser Length Question…

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m looking at a set of TT Blackmax Carbon Extremes…I feel that for $ 399?…they are offering a lot in a limb as follows…

• Advanced engineering, workmanship & materials for the quickest, most stable ILF limb for the traditional archer
• Limb tips are fastFlight/high performance bow string compatible
• Satin black finish over carbon
• 8 lams w/ 6 carbon layers with foam synthetic core
• ILF (international limb fitting) for standardized use on all ILF risers
• Weight is measured @ 28” on a 17” riser

and I won’t lie…as I would also appreciate the aesthetics of their solid matt black appearance on this new-to-me pse zone riser…however…I’m looking to hit in the 24#-26# weight range and this riser they are going on is 25"s while the limb weights are based on a 17" riser…so my question is…

They only go as low as 35#s based on a 17" riser…so would I be able to hit my desired weight of about 25#s on a 25" riser?

My quick Math says…27#s

2013 PSE Revenge, 60#, limb number?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey everyone. Does anyone own a 60# 2013 PSE Revenge? If so, what is the number for the 60# limbs?

I looked at the PSE tune chart and from the way I interpreted it, I thought the 60# peak limbs were number 16, but a dealer told me that the 60# peak limbs are number 17 according to PSE.

Can someone verify this for me???

Thanks!

Shooting a hinge with limb stops

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys, I know most people say that it’s much better to shoot a hinge with a bow that has cable stops versus one that has limb stops. I have just recently started learning to shoot a hinge again. I tried for awhile last year but ended up going back to my STAN Element. So now I’m back 100% committed to learning a hinge. However my current bow has dual limb stops, obviously with a rock hard back wall. How many of y’all shoot a hinge with a bow that has limb stops, and if you do how has it worked for you? I love my current bow, but if honestly switching to a bow with cable stops would be so much better I would be willing to do so when the 2014 bows are released later this year.
