LONDON – The United States men’s archery team experienced both ends of the Olympics’ emotional spectrum Saturday. First, the Americans were euphoric after scoring a convincing upset of world power South Korea in the semifinals at Lord’s Cricket Ground. About an hour later, they were crushed in the gold medal match when Italy beat them by a single point on the final arrow of the competition. While a silver medal is hardly disappointing, the manner in which the United States lost was brutal. After scoring 27 points in their final end to cut their deficit to 1, the Americans watched as Italy scored 17 points on the first two arrows of its last series. If the final Italian archer, Michele Frangilli, scored 8 points, the United States would win outright; if he scored 9, the match would be tied; and if he scored 10, the Italians would win the gold medal after losing it four years ago on a similar last-arrow shot.

G5 Prime had me out to their Summit and 3D! I’m a Hoyt guy, but in preparation for the "class" and shoot I picked up a Prime Rival a few weeks ago. This event was at the Snowbird Ski Resort! Beautiful place! It’s late and the extreme 3D destroyed me!!!
I’ll update this later with more details later, but I wanted to say that the "Summit" was well done and very interesting!
The next morning at 7:30, we all met at the tram to the top of the mountain (11,000 el.). Just before boarding the tram, they announced who would be in what groups. I was shocked when it was announced that I would be in the group with Dave Cousins! He couldn’t have been nice, more encouraging or more helpful.
I made my day!!!

Heard some scuttlebutt a couple weeks ago that our landowner sold his 700-acre ranch to two different buyers. My buddy called him up and learned that it was true. Our landowner will retain the land until January 2015 and then it will transfer ownership. Hence, this could be the last season we ever set foot on it. Of course, we’ll approach the new owners, but this area is pretty popular with deer hunters and we won’t be surprised with a "no."
There are plenty of public lands around to hunt, but we’ve spent a lot of years getting this place dialed in. It will be a big loss… particularly to my buddy who killed his biggest bucks with rifle and bow on the ranch.
So, here’s the question. If you knew you were hunting a spot like this for the last season, would you approach it any differently? I don’t think we will. We know the best winds and locations and already have it set up. Being stupid will just hurt our final chances at big deer on the place.
It’s sure gonna hurt to pull those stands out of the trees!

So the string on my old Browning is fraying…again. I got the bow as a loaner and it came with a string that was kind frayed already, so I bought a new string at the local shop and had it restrung. That was just in early December last year. Now its just April and its started fraying again.
The part where it frays is about 6 inches away from the serving area, so I’m pretty sure its not rubbing on anything. The string came waxed, and I diligently applied wax to it every 3 weeks. The only things I changed on the string would be to increase the brace height from 7.75 to 9 inches. This is where the bow seems to be quietest. Heck, with this brace height, its even quieter now than when I put in those little wooly puffs!
Anyways, my question is…how often do you guys have to change strings due to fraying? I’ve unstrung the bow now (I usually leave it strung and sitting horizontally in a rack on the wall), but if I were to string it, would the string snap? Would it snap whilst shooting?
