Turkey Hunting

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m relatively new to traditional archery and to turkey hunting (though not hunting in general) and am looking for a little guidance here. Our spring season is starting up in another month or two and I’d like to go out for it with the bow if I can. What are your best tips/tricks for going after thanksgiving birds with a bow? I know where they hang out in my area from hunting and being in the woods, and I have a fairly robust camo setup, but I’m wondering about concealing my movements during draw and the best way to get them in close (since I think 20 yards is a realistic max range for me).

Anyhow, who’s killed them and what works for you?

place to take daughter hunting????

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Ok So my 8 yo daughter is bugging me about wanting to go hunting with daddy this year. Being stationed in northern ny(fort drum) I dont know the area at all other than the ranges on post. Plent of deer on post and they are all very much so shooters. But the problem I have is, if I read the ny regs right, that the child must be 12 years old to hunt. Down home in NC there is no regs for age. But its damn near impossable to get home and hunt. So is there any regs on age in any surrounding states? And if not where is some good public land that I can take her. Btw she has an appretice 2 and use of my 30-30 and 243 also. Thanks in advance yall……

New to bow hunting

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve always been a gun hunter and recently decided to take the plunge into bows. I’m originally from West Texas but currently reside in San Diego, I’m thinking my best option may be to try to hunt in AZ. I’m looking for a setup in the $ 400 dollar range that will be able to hunt larger game such as elk and would like to hear some experienced input as well as tips for someone starting out in southern ca. I’m 28 with a family so the most cost efficient advice is the best. I know lots of practice is essential and I’m prepared for that. Are bows with a wide range of adjustability such as the PSE vision any good?

Thanks for any help

How to stop Road HUNTING!!??

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m sure we aren’t the only ones with this problem… a road runs right through the heart of out property. Every year like clock work, we hear shooting, get word of road hunters shootin deer, find blood drug across the road, even get shot at! I’m trying to figure out our best option to hinder this. My thoughts are:

-planting something to grow a line of cover so you have a tougher time seein from the road

-hinge cut some trees

but thats about all i can think of… n they pry wont have a great affect

what have you guys done, or heard done?

Moose hunting: Alberta vs. Newfoundland

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am planning a moose hunt for 2015 and my initial location choice is Newfoundland due to the number of moose they have and the average price of the hunt.

That being said, I have seen several posts by folks who say Alberta is the place to go if you are hunting moose with a bow. Some Alberta hunts I looked at were comparable in price so now I am undecided.

I am not particular about moose size or sex; if it’s got moose hair on it and it’s legal then that is good enough for me. I will be using a longbow and want the animals CLOSE if that bears any weight on your opinion.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Alberta or Newfoundland for bowhunting moose?

Thanks,

Darren

Want to know how to get hunting permisson?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

This is how I have acquired a lot of land to hunt!!! It works! Here is a templet you should save and use it when you find some private property you want to hunt!

Dear PROPERTY OWNER NAME,
My name is Matthew Bassie, a local resident, pre-law student, wildlife conservationist, and an ethical hunter. Driving past your property on Hwy 20 near the state line of Alabama and Tennessee this week, I could not help but notice the many deer on your property. Viewing your property from satellite indicated to me that your land does indeed contain many whitetail deer, some of which may be doing unwanted damage to your property.
With respect to your rights as a landowner, I would like to ask your permission to hunt your property this year. As a member of the North American Hunting Club, I am committed to respecting the rights of the landowners and their property, separating me from many people who have knocked on your door in the past. I, of course would respect any wishes that you might have regarding where on your land you would prefer me to hunt and/or during which times. It would also be my pleasure to share a large portion of my time to help you with anything you may need. It would also be my pleasure to share a large portion of my good fortune with you and your family as a way of saying thank you. Furthermore, after receiving my law degree I would greatly return such a favor toward any matter.
I would love for you to give me a call to discuss this issue and arrange a time to introduce myself. If that is not convenient, or you do not wish to grant me your permission, please feel free to contact me at YOUR NUMBER. You may also leave a message if I am not available. I look forward to speaking with you and hope to have the chance to meet you in the near future.
Sincerely,

Matthew W. Bassie

Recurve for Hunting that comes apart in two pieces?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi all,

I am looking to get my first Recurve bow and start learning instinctive shooting, and eventually hunt with it. I live in NYC so with having to take two buses to get to a bow shop I would love a bow that comes apart length wise into two pieces so it is easy to carry around.

Can someone recommend a bow like that that will serve hunting purposes, will it?
Any drawbacks to this style?
Looking for 45-50 pounds

Thanks
