Success hunting from ground without a blind? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

My property is all young pine trees, not big in thickness or tall enough for a ladder or climber. Not really a good spot for a ground blind either and im just not super comfortable shooting a bow out of one.

Have just been sort of making my own blinds, or sitting behind cover so far this year but havent had any luck. Obviously i need to make sure my scent and wind are taken care of, but is this just a lost cause? Should i just figure out a way to make a ground blind work even if its is just in the middle of a food plot?

Hunting from the ground with NO blind #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’ve acquired a leafy suit and going to attempt to hunt a particular spot that is tucked perfectly between bedding that leads to food and water. It essentially sits on a point of thick cover that abuts a major travel route. It’s an absolute deer highway right now, and I’ve convinced the local farmer to leave several rows of the standing corn just for this setup (it’s usually a soy bean field).

However, there is no suitable tree for a stand, and deer on my place absolutely HATE blinds, even well brushed in ones. So I’m curious what the board has to say about hunting from the ground with no blind. Tips or tricks? Pics of particular setups anyone?

ETA: Here’s a rough sketch of the spot… Highlighted/red "X" area is where I’d be. Bedding to west and southwest. Standing corn in field with drainage ditch down center and creek to the east. There is a break in the corn that’s about a 30 yard opening right in that corner giving ample opportunity for a shot.

Saddle hunting platform #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Can’t get the search feature to work, but needing thoughts on different platforms. My saddle won’t be in for another few weeks so I have time to figure it out. I have seen the predator platform but seems pricey for what it is as well as the wei perch. My number one thought was buying a lone wolf seat and making a platform since xop no longer sells the seats alone. Also have considered the ring of steps option, as well as using 2 or 3 wild edge step ladders. My two preferred would be the predator platform or building a lone wolf seat platform. What are your experiences with different platforms? Should I just spend the few extra dollars and order the predator platform?

Climbing Harness Features for Hunting #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m strongly considering moving to a climbing style harness and get rid of my full body harness. I really dislike the tether tied to the back of my neck. Since the harness is basically for life preservation should I fall (which hopefully will never happen), what are the minimal features that you would recommend? Are padded waist belt and leg straps necessary? Are the gear/tool loops useful for anything? What brands tend to be of higher quality and do any of these brands produce a "minimal" type of climbing harness that would work well for tree stand hunting (climber stand)?

Planning to head to REI this weekend to see that they carry.

New Hunting Arrow Build #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Im looking to build some new arrows for this season. I mainly hunt Whitetail and turkey with the hopes of going out west for elk soon. I’m on a budget so was looking at the Goldtip Hunter XTs due to price and the Fact weight system, I want 15%+ FOC with 125 grain broad-heads. Im shooting around 65lbs at 28 1/2in draw out of a Hoyt Faktor 30, so I will probably go with 350-340 spine at 28 inch’s depending on the weight upfront. Any suggestions or opinions on arrows, builds, and broad-heads are welcomed.

Any Mississippi Coast Hunting Opportunities #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m getting ready to retire from the Air Force and am looking at the Biloxi area. I lived there for a couple years ago but never had too much time for any hunting. I know archery is pretty much non existent down there but are there any bow hunting opportunities down there? I’m looking for wild pigs and deer.
