Hoyt Horizon 25″ riser & Shibuya DX plunger that won’t thread in–need some help

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hey guys, fairly new to archery. For my first riser I chose a Hoyt Horizon from Lancaster Archery with a Sebastian Flute Ultimate Rest. Have been shooting bare-bow and I finally got to the point where I was looking to get a sight and plunger, and so went through Lancaster again and picked up a Shibuya Dual-Click and DX. Now I find this riser doesn’t want to accept the plunger?! I thought this would have been a fairly common setup, but the plunger has trouble starting to thread in and when it finally does, it only goes in a few threads before getting stuck. Is there some sizing issue that I wasn’t aware of? My Hoyt didn’t have anything in the manual about the thread pitch on the two mount holes so I assumed that everything would match right up.

Has anyone else used a Horizon and Shibuya DX together before? Should I contact Hoyt directly or Lancaster next?

EDIT:

I just found a review on Lancaster that I hadn’t caught before I bought it:

Quote:

"Good for the price but …. Review by Edwin

Ordered the Black Out and I’m impressed by the looks. I tried attaching my long
rod after cleaning the stab bushing with compressed air and it would not go in. The start thread just won’t bite bite unless you apply pressure. Once in, it’s very hard to turn. I was afraid it might strip the thread of my long rod so I decided to take it to a nearby archery store where they re-tapped it. Turned out it was not tapped properly. I think it would not cost quality control another minute to make sure all the holes are properly tapped. I know this is not a high end riser but this is where neubies like me start to develop brand loyalty so a little care in inspection will go a long way."

Uh Oh.

Bowtech Insanity CPXL, Bear Anarchy HC, or Hoyt Faktor 34

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Can’t decide between these 3, I think because the Bear Anarchy HC is unavailable to test shoot anywhere within 100 miles of my home. I shoot 70# @30" and have found that a longer axle to axle is more comfortable to shoot. I’ve considered the Elite E35 because of it’s smooth draw and amazing back wall but it appears to look more like a rectangular box than a bow. I hunt mostly, do 2 or 3 3D shoots a year, and shoot almost daily in my back yard. I currently own a bear domain and like the way it shoots but the lower string stop wears out every week. I want to move from a mid range bow to high end, that can shoot my 457 grain arrows repeatedly without constant maintenance. Any expert advice would help. thanks

My new Hoyt Excel ILF

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Thought I’d share a pic (not that great a pic, sorry) of my new 21" Hoyt excel riser, medium Axiom + 24lb limbs. Loving it so far. This fits me better than the traditional type bows. I’m shooting it off the riser with some furniture pads built up. Left and rights are better and I feel I aim better. I’m shooting predator 11 800 spine arrows and it shoots very well for me….I’m a newbie so you guys could do better. I still have a samick polaris, 27lb and its a great bow but I feel like I just upgraded to a Cadillac for less than $ 300 shipped :-)

Hoyt Tiburon Video and Form

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Figured some of you would want to see some slow-mo video of a hoyt tiburon, and I’ll take any feedback out there on my form. I’m a student of Rod Jenkins and had two lessons with him a year ago as I live about 40 minutes away. My release is still not as smooth as I’d like it, it’s always a work in progress. I’m also still working on the best grip for this bow as I’ve only had it two weeks. Still adjusting to the extra poundage as well, I’ve been shooting a 50# longbow for the last year and this bow is about 58-60# at my draw.

Can someone explain actual difference between Hoyt RKT 1.1 and 1.2 cams?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I know thy’re used on different bows. For example the Spyder 30 used the 1.2 to cover 24.5-26" and Spyder 34 used 1.1 to cover 25.5-27". Is there any actual noticeable difference between them? WHat do you think would be the end result of running RKT 1.2 on a Spyder 34? What draw range would they probably cover?
