Hoyt Prevail 37/40 or PSE Perform X? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hello archers, i just joined this forum and i want to know, which bow is better between Hoyt Prevail 37/40 (X3 cam or SVX cam) or PSE Perform X? What is the pros and cons of the bows itself (weight, draw cycle, stability, etc)? Now i’m using Genesis Gen X (2016) and in a few months i want to change between both of the bows above. Honestly i prefer Perform X because it looks cooler than Prevail. I don’t know its just me or more people used Prevail than Perform X? Please share your experience between the bows above so i can decide which bow i will buy later. Thank you for your attention, and sorry for my bad english!

Hoyt xxl wall not hard enough. #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I have two older Hoyt’s, xtec and pro 38. They both have a firm wall. The xx wall is spongy….I’ve balanced the cams.
Just prefer the feel of the older cams at full draw…..Any suggestions.

Hoyt CST ZT Cam changes require new Cable & Strings? #2 to #3? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I kind of need a answer to this in a quick way. If I change a CST ZT #2 cam to a number #3 cam to go from 28dl to 28.5dl – will this require a new set of strings and cables?

HOYT Compound Setup #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi People, I have just made the transition from recurve to compound. Well i say transition but the truth is i will shoot both.

Im learning lots about Compound setup and have a question that i’m unable to answer from looking online.

My new compound is the HOYT Prevail 37X if this is relevant.
I understand that all compounds have ‘Cam lean’ due to their design so with this in mind do you have what in the recurve world is known as ‘Center Shot’ from the center of the riser?

Assuming the string / cables on my bow are set correctly, and the cams and associated fixing are all working correctly should the string sit in the center of the riser?

I understand that cables and string, cable yolks, cam spacers etc… can be adjusted but is the aim of adjustment to get ‘Center Shot’?

Please be gentle with your replies…

Thank you.

80# Hoyt Turbos #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I see that the Hoyt turbo models are not ever available in 80# limb options, and I do not see threads/posts about special ordering 80# limbs to put on these bows. Is there a reason for this? COULD you order 80# limbs from Hoyt and put them on a turbo? Say a 2017 Defiant Turbo or 2018 RX1 Turbo?

help with tuning / spine for Hoyt CST? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster, thank you in advance for any help or advice you might have.

I don’t have a lot of tuning knowledge, especially when it comes to arrows, and I’m having a problem that just seems weird to me.
Either that, or I completely misunderstood Easton’s charts. Which, hey, sadly wouldn’t be all that strange for me 😉

Bow: Hoyt carbon spyder turbo, Z5 cams (number 3 I believe), 28 inch draw, 60 pounds give or take a few, Qad hdx rest (my first dropaway, I’m used to blades, but setup looks ok – it’s dropping, no vane contact that I can tell from smearing goop on em), centershot at around 6/8

Arrows, I’ve tried the following:

Easton 2317 XX75 Camo Hunter shaft cut to 29 inches 125 grain head
Easton Bloodline 330 spine, shaft cut to 29 inches 125 grain head
Easton FMJ 5mm 400 spine, cut to 28 inches 125 grain head

The strange thing (to me at least) is, paper tuning shows that it likes the FMJ but the Bloodline and 2317 are showing left tears – weak it seems. I’d actually have expected them to be stiffer, or at least fine for a 60 lbs bow? Am I wrong?
What could be causing this please? Just them being the 1 inch longer makes that much of a difference? I shot weaker spines than these 3 out of my previous 60 pounders with no real issues…

(Also, I’ve no internet at home right now so I’ll be checking in on this on my ancient flip phone thing but will not be able to respond til tomorrow – please take no offense if I respond slowly)

Hoyt Powermax is a BEAST, may be buying another bow also very soon please read. #archery

I’ve loved archery since I was a kid. Sadly, since 2001 or so, I haven’t had time or money to get back in. My last bow was a wooden Darton compound and I loved it. Earlier this summer around July, I gave in to the urge to get back into it and wanted to try out a Hoyt. Not a fan boy but it was something I always wanted because of what I had seen and heard. I went in checked out some bows and decided on the Powermax. For one, I didn’t want to spend over $ 1000 on a bow when I have no experience with the new ones, I knew there would be mistakes along the way. Took the bow home, made alot of mistakes and had the regular newbie incidents. Derailed the bow while letting it down in early August, took it in, they checked it out and put it back together shot just fine. The other day I derailed it again, completely my fault. I figure the arrow came off when I put my release on, I probably pushed the nock off the string then tried to fire it. I thought for sure it would be destroyed. Took it in again this morning, they checked it out it looked fine, put the string back on and waiting for my custom strings that I ordered last week. If all goes well I think I’ll keep this bow for my hunting bow. If anyone has any carbon defiant with #2 cams, 70 or 80# max, I will be looking for another bow soon. Also considering one of the ones with quad cams made by G5 for a target bow. Hit me up if you plan on selling something like that in the near future. I want my next bow to be in blackout colors tho.
