Nock durability help #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey everyone — I’m shooting a Triax with VAPs that I installed Easton G nocks in. After about 75-100 shots per arrow, my nocks began to get really loose on the string.
My nock set is not too tight and the nocks are not gripping the string too tight, but for some reason they are way loose now, to the point where they actually will just fall off the string. For a few shots I just pinched them, but they would go back to the stretched shape within a shot or two, and I actually had one snap in half coming off the string, I guess from all of the pinching making it weaker. Arrow went deep into the target like normal, just made kind of a louder noise at the shot. Bow is fine.

SO

I am looking for recommendations on a different type of nock to fit my .166 ID arrows that will hopefully hold up. The ones I am currently using are the 0.098 (I think? They are the Deeper groove for sure) G nocks. I’m not planning on buying any more of these as I have not been impressed by their durability. Any help is appreciated!

Help with ideas on how to move my box blind #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I build an elevated box blind over the summer. It’s 6×6 wooden box blind sitting on a 10’ high elevated platform. I decided I want to relocated it to the opposite side of the field. Any ideas or thoughts on how I can move it? A few I was thinking of are 1. Rent a skid steer and try to move it that way 2. Jack up one side at a time and try make some type of ski out of 10’ 2×6 and drag it. 3. Or just disassemble it and rebuild it in the other location

help with tuning / spine for Hoyt CST? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi all,

Longtime lurker, first time poster, thank you in advance for any help or advice you might have.

I don’t have a lot of tuning knowledge, especially when it comes to arrows, and I’m having a problem that just seems weird to me.
Either that, or I completely misunderstood Easton’s charts. Which, hey, sadly wouldn’t be all that strange for me 😉

Bow: Hoyt carbon spyder turbo, Z5 cams (number 3 I believe), 28 inch draw, 60 pounds give or take a few, Qad hdx rest (my first dropaway, I’m used to blades, but setup looks ok – it’s dropping, no vane contact that I can tell from smearing goop on em), centershot at around 6/8

Arrows, I’ve tried the following:

Easton 2317 XX75 Camo Hunter shaft cut to 29 inches 125 grain head
Easton Bloodline 330 spine, shaft cut to 29 inches 125 grain head
Easton FMJ 5mm 400 spine, cut to 28 inches 125 grain head

The strange thing (to me at least) is, paper tuning shows that it likes the FMJ but the Bloodline and 2317 are showing left tears – weak it seems. I’d actually have expected them to be stiffer, or at least fine for a 60 lbs bow? Am I wrong?
What could be causing this please? Just them being the 1 inch longer makes that much of a difference? I shot weaker spines than these 3 out of my previous 60 pounders with no real issues…

(Also, I’ve no internet at home right now so I’ll be checking in on this on my ancient flip phone thing but will not be able to respond til tomorrow – please take no offense if I respond slowly)

Help my age this deer #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Usually I don’t have an issue doing this but this guys rack doesn’t fit what the body tells me and what I know. He has much smaller body than other deer in the area and never has had much of a swollen neck either.

I believe I have/had this guy on camera for 3 years. First year… I left the camera up with the original SD card that had pictures of him and then the place burned down so don’t have the pictures for that year.

2016. Small/similar body to 2017/2018. Rack was hard to tell what he was as he was broken but similar beams to 2016. Had longer G2’s, a busted G3 on one side and at least 1 broken point on the other. Going off memory but at least 90% sure it was the same deer as it had very similar beam mass, shape and width. Only deer in the area with these wide sweeping beams.

2017. Maybe gained a point? Hard tell because he was busted previous year. There was a really bad draught the 2016-2017 winter and then the whole region burned spring of 2017 so he probably didn’t have great forage.

2018. Gained more points. Body about the same so far but a touch better. Lots of rain and good forage this year. Comparing him to the feeder head puts him at about 24.5" outside width. Feeder from bottom to where it meets the PVC is 24" and measuring him and comparing put him slightly wider than 24". Camera about 7 yards away so it should negate any perspective angle illusions.

Now going over it, he had to be a minimum of 2.5 in 2016. I personally guessed him at 3.5 in 2016 based on pictures. Using 2.5/3.5 puts him a minimum 5.5/6.5 this year.

Here’s what gets me. I see his pictures this year and keep thinking that’s a 3.5 or possibly a 2.5 with great genetics but I don’t see 5.5 or 6.5. He is much smaller bodied than other 3.5 to 4.5 deer around. What do you guys see?

Help with arrow build #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I need to start off by saying that I am not curious about any other brands, I just need advice for Carbon Express arrows.

I have a 30" DL and pull 80#, I am looking at building a new hunting arrow and would like to be at a minimum of 11% FOC.

Right now my arrows set up is a Black Eagle Rampage .250, I use the stainless steel outsert at 56 grains, and a 100 grain broadhead, 6" wrap, 3 AAE Max stealth vanes and a nockturnal nock.

Things I need to keep on the arrow: the wrap and the lighted nock, and 100 grain tips. My total arrow weight right now is about 550 total arrow weight (if I remember correctly)

So what do I need to do in order to get the same setup in a carbon express?

Thanks!!

Need help finding new safety harness #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am looking for a new safety harness that is not bulky in the shoulder straps. I have a HSS ultra lite now that I like but it has too much bulk in the shoulder straps. When rifle season rolls around I can not comfortably seat my rifle on my shoulder with the harness on and I would like to minimize bulk with the bow too. What harness should I look for?

Serving cable slide area help #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

So I would like to serve where my cable slide travels across the cable (it’s a roller). A new slide is an option ill consider but for now i would like to see how it fairs with serving. I know I need a bow press to take the cables off and serve them from what ive read on here. My main question is what methods do you guys use to create tension on the cable while serving? I heard someone mention using ratchet straps. This is not very clear to me. So does anyone know of a good method to create tension in the cables after removing them from the bow? Is there a certain amount of tension needed? Anything else I should know?
