Hand held releases vs finger releases #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I shoot a finger release and thinking of trying a hand held for target and hunting. What are some recommendations and if you shoot a hand held is it the type that locks itself to the D loop or is it an open hook? Thanks

Third Hand Bowholder review.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I got my Third Hand Bow holder in the mail a few days ago. I have always been a screw in hook guy for many reasons. The biggest is probably the fear of my bow falling out of the holder and falling to the ground.

When I opened the package I was immediately impressed with the quality of the product. Very very well built. I had a spare hang on stand in my deer shack that I mounted the bowholder to. Took less than 5 minutes mounting and adjusting And super easy. When finished mounting it was on there super tight and fit great. Now for the real test, how well will it hold my bow. Slid my Hoyt in there and fit great. Held the bow and did exactly what it was suppose to do.

I plan on getting a climber before season and will mount up the Third Hand. This was part 1 of my review. Will post an update after I get some hunts in using the bow holder. KIMG0106.jpg. KIMG0117.jpg

Third Hand Archery Products Review

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Let me preface this review by stating that I have absolutely no affiliation with Third Hand Archery products. I got my hands on some of their products and wanted to give an honest review. My second post, along with pictures from the stand, will be of how they actually performed in the field.

The products I received and have used from Third Hand -

Stabilizing straps
Universal bow holder
Accessory Belt
Treestand treads

I have an original Summit Viper that is over 10 years old now and have seen a bunch of threads over the last couple of years of people modding their stands for comfort. I purchased the Molle shoulder strap system and kidney belt for transporting the stand and, combined with the Third Hand products, that’s made a world of a difference. (see below)

I then utilized the items from Third Hand Man to include the stabilizing straps, bow holder and treestand treads. I installed all three and the Viper began to take shape.

The stock Summit seat was always a challenge for me and I was contemplating replacing it. It was always in the way when I climbed up and down the tree and really was a pain in the rear. So, before I went and ordered a Hazmore, I decided to try and finagel a quick release system for the stock seat since you couldn’t beat the comfort of it. I used quick release clips and weaved paracord through the straps to hold the quick release clips in place and to hold my weight. Sure enough, it worked.

This game me the opportunity to quickly attach and detach the seat in seconds and be able to transport it much easier by securing it and my pack to the back of the stand using the stabilizing straps.

The bow holder was easy to install. Simply remove the screws and nuts, place it on the rail in the positioning you want it and install the screws and nuts once again. With everything installed and ready to go, I was eager to hit the woods.

3rd Hand Archery Products!!!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

:thumbs_up I ordered 2 sets of 3rd Hand Archery Tree stand Treads Saturday…They Arrived Today!!! (Does Jim know a Postman???) Anyway…I was sceptacle…I always am spending money for what I would consider extras…All I can say is…WOW! These threads fit perfect…are simple to install and after 2 hours are on for good! I put them on my Summitt Goliath and my Summit Specialist…They fit like a glove and quieted the stand immediately. I put on a couple and then took my finger and flicked the thread next to it…loud noise…then flicked tread…NOTHING! I mean it was like turning the volume down on my radio! I have bought so many things I never use…I have become pretty frugal on extras. Well I can tell you for sure…If you own/use a Summit Climbing Tree Stand you need 2 things for sure:

1. 3rd Hand Archery Stabilizer Straps (They make a Good Stand a Great Stand…) Safety is something we never think about until me get in trouble!

2. The 3rd Hand Archery Tree Stand Treads…They are great for wet boots squeaking…keep your stand quiet from creaks and are a perfect fit!!!

I will try to post pictures…But I’m from Baby Boomer Generation so simple computer things are often quite difficult!

Oh yeah…before someone asks…I don’t work for 3rd Hand Archery…not a pro staffer etc… I met Jim a few years ago at the Columbus Ohio Deer and Turkey Expo and after 30 minutes of looking at his products I became very interested…Now I’m hooked for life!!!

I hope everyone has a great season this year!!!

I can’t believe it happened to me — arrow in hand.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Like many of you, I’d seen the threads of the arrow in hand. Well, it happened to me last night.

A week before Ohio’s bow opener I decided to spend some time practicing in my basement. As soon as I released, I could tell something wasn’t right. Very loud pop and snap. Then my arm inside my elbow hurt like hell from the string slapping it. When I went to look at it, I realized how badly my hand hurt. It felt like I was hit with a hammer. It took a moment for it to register that the arrow was sticking out of my hand.

Broken thumb at the joint but no other damage than that. I may have to have surgery later this week to put a screw in it or set it.
