2 pieces of property and no good pics of big bucks

Hey all,
I am fortunate enough to hunt on two properties. One is 27 acres(which my father in-law lives on) that is surrounded by 3 corn fields that add up to another 100 acres. Think like a horse shoe…the empty space in the middle is my father in-laws land and the surrounding "shorseshoe shape" are the corn fields his neighbors own (who dont hunt).
The other property is 150acres which is surrounded by other plots of land where people do hunt. this is all woods with 3 different grassy fields, but there are some farm fields with-in quarter mile as well. This property is new, we just bought last year.

Last year…we had lots of nice 8 pointers and 10 pointers on camera at my fathers house property(the horseshoe one), however, only one eight pointer was shot…nothing else mainly because we spent most our time at the new 150 acre property. This property was just bought last year and we didnt have time for scouting accept to see some rub areas which we set-up stands around. We actually shot a monster 10 point last year at this new property. Anyways, to make a long storry short….we set camera’s up everywhere at the new property and the old horseshoe property.

We were surprised to only see tons of doe and younger bucks. I mean a lot! We left the cameras out for about a month and there wasnt a day or camera with out a deer on it…and not just single deer…we are talking some days had groups of lots of deer but there was NOT anything bigger than a younger 6 point which is crazy because like I said, at the horseshoe property, no one else hunts and last year was actually the first year we didnt hunt it hard and only took one eight pointer and the new property showed LOTS of does and actually a really good amount of young bucks but nothing big. So what gives? Where did all the big boys go haha. My father in-law is friends with most the surrounding land owner hunters and everyone had a bad year last year so we all expected to see lots of big deer this year…I live in new york by the way.

Moving, anyone know a good place to shoot near Baraboo WI?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Relocating for work from Racine to Baraboo WI first week of Sept. I’ll have to do some scouting on the fly for hunting spots, but does anyone know a range or two around there to sling the longbow? My wife and baby won’t be coming up until Oct so I should have some week nights free to shoot. I’ll be checking out the neighborhood, looking for housing rent/buy, scouting for deer, shooting, hunting (Sept 14 opener)…a nice place to live, an archery range, or a great spot to hunt, I wonder which one I’ll find first… I know which one my lovely wife would prefer :D.

Good bow scale

Just looking for advice on a bow scale. Seems the $ 50.00 plus ones get worse reviews than the ones around $ 30.00. Anyone have one that accurate and consistent?

]Im from Nevada and have really hunted western states for mule deer and blacktail. i just recently bought 60 acres in MN to do some whitetail hunting. I finally got around to checking my trail cams and this is what i found… Im no whitetail expert so any guesses on age and future score would be great.

help to choose a good sight for a poor crossbow

dear sirs

i have a cheap chinese crossbow, which shoot cheap ebay arrows, both illustrated below:

http://www.mankung.eu/wp-content/upl…1h-480×360.jpg

150a1h-480×360.jpg

it was a gift from a friend and after shooting it i became more and more interested in crossbow shooting, reading more about better equipment, as horton, excalibur and so on.

but since it is difficult to me to move to a best crossbow right now (due my small budget allied to high freight cost and custom taxes on my country ) i am spending some time trying to adjust what i have, to be used on backyard plinking at 3D foam targets.

so, i started sanding and oiling its stock, painting its aluminum parts and making a epoxy bedding between aluminum and wood parts, eliminating all factory wobbling.

now my crossbow is steady and as beauty as its project permits (not too much.. i know)

but before start studying how select the better bolts to shoot (bolts are easier to buy and i do pretend to buy better ones) i am interested in remove its original fixed sights (now broken) and put on a better sight.

after use the google "site:http://www.archerytalk.com/" function to search all content regarding scope and red dot, it seems that the forum members think that hawke offers the best products for the lower prices, being the xb30 a good way to go.

but since its a little pricey, i search a little more, founding two HAWKE product i can afford:

the Hawke XB Crossbow Scope 3×32 (£49.95)
and the
Hawke Crossbow 3 Dot Reticle (£49.95)

they seem to be 2 good sights, that i even can use in a future better crossbow, if i can afford a better one someday.

but since i have little (or no one) experience, i feel i cannot make a wise decision, being lost between this two models.

so, i came here to ask some help:

– would anyone help me to choose the best product to me?

i think must say that:

1) i am shooting the low powered crossbow depicted above. i think it has 120 pound (at least is what its rated on the bow)
2) i shoot in my backyard, from 5 meters to 30 meters maximum distance.
3) i shoot 3D homemade foam animal targets, which i try to hide with some garden brushes and plants, to simulate real life hunting when playing with my son.
4) i shoot in variable light conditions, from the brightest day to dusk and night conditions, sometimes using flashlights mounted on the crossbow.

i initially think that the 1×30 red dot should be a better option because some member says it has an easier target aquisiton on short distances.

but i am afraid to buy the red dot and miss a good scope.

at same time, i am afraid to buy the scope and note that the 3 x scope magnification is much more than i need at short distances.

i am also afraid the scope needing of Hawke BRC software, which i dont know what it is and i am afraid it can prejudice my backyard diversion.

would you please help me with some advises?

i appreciate your patience.

thanks a lot!
